IN my line of work (Aviation). The regional airlines were desperatly looking for mechanics in the Northern VA area. In fact Bussiness aviation used to be great here. But now Bussiness aviation are cutting back and the regionals are filled. The regionals are even considering cutting some people loose (even me).
By the way, just as an example of where the economy staying down can slow down his agenda, look at Cap and Trade. There's pushback against it because of the warnings about how it will affect jobs. People that hear that are going to voice their resistance, in main part because they are paying attention to what the economy is doing and are concerned about keeping their jobs. If they weren't worried about their jobs and could devote all their attention to who's doing what on Dancing With the Stars, Cap and Trade would be sliding through like crap through a goose. When the economy gets better, people will let the Obama administration and the Democrat congress do anything they want.
If your not already, find your local PMI chapter and join. There are lots of networking opportunities in that circle.
Also, practice interviewing with other people and get their feedback.
Lastly, keep a positive attitude and don’t give up!
Best of luck,

The Gerald R. Ford unemployment rate was less than this, wasn’t it, the one where the even more hapless GA Jimmy said that Ford should be ashamed to seek election with such a high rate of joblessness?
Liar, the American sheeple love liars!
LOL! Okay, okay, people aren't very up on prob and stat.
When the gross number of any series is diminished, then each seceding diminishment is of a smaller number, even though the gross percentage of loss (delta) is unchanged.
IOW, if the number of jobs lost was the same after each count, then the trend would be accelerating dramatically, not slowing.
The trend is virtually unchanged.
Lies, damned lies, and statistics. - the purview of the media.

Thanks Mike. I am already a member of the Alamo PMI. I am going to look at board opportunities with them to expand my network.

Actually there is some good news, the Household Survey estimated non-agricultural wage and salary workers at +246,000 in April

Canada employment also had a surprise increase for April (although most gains were in the self-employed category)
If the CES and household survey have radically different numbers - I will always take the household survey. The CES has had problems in almost every recession and has continually been redesigned.

Some people just don’t get it.
Bookmarked! Thanks much. A guy I talk to at work believed the govcrap. Told him it was much worse, now can show him!

You might broaden your horizons a tad.
The musical chair analogy is useful. Yes some chairs are removed from the game. But many more chairs are added to the game, especially over time.
Since I constantly job hop, I’ve held over 50 jobs in my life. Other than my slot in the Army in Vietnam and my first job after Vietnam, every job I’ve held has been a newly created job that never existed before.
Where I currently consult, I filled a newly created job that had gone begging for over a year before I filled it. I had seen it on the internet for all that time. Recruiters had been begging me for over a year to fill it.
After I took the position, I had some issues with the corporate bureaucracy of departments with which I interfaced. The response of my department was to create a whole new team with me as the first team member. My old slot then became open and went begging for someone to fill it. My new team has never been able to fill all the slots for which it has been budgeted.
Most everywhere I’ve worked since ‘68 new positions are constantly being created that never before existed. New projects, new departments, new territories. Of course, at the same time, old projects are completed and phased out. I’ve been phased out numerous times.
Any competent realtor would realize that this real estate market is a buy opportunity and a strong rental market (at least in the various markets where my family has income real estate).
If an alleged realtor can’t understand how to take advantage of this great market, then they don’t deserve the term “realtor” which is reserved for the alleged elite of licensed real estate agents.
