Unlike Romney's "National Council for a New America," Free Republic is a conservative site!
Refer to Romney's Council for a New American Socialist State formed in HIS Image ^ | May 2, 2009 | Jim Robinson

I'm going to try one more time to explain what FR is all about.

Free Republic is a conservative site. That does not necessarily mean it is a Republican site. In fact there may be many Republicans we don't support and some Republican issues we cannot agree with.

I'll throw in Arlen Specter as a prime example of a Republican we cannot support. Should be obvious to all why not. Should also be just as obvious to all that we cannot support Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John McCain and his lap dog Lindsay Graham, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, et al.

Some of the issues we cannot support as conservatives even though sometimes initiated by so-called Republicans include TARP, or any kind of government bailout of private enterprise, federal intrusion into free markets, federalized education systems, government provided or controlled health care systems, abortion, gay marriage, amnesty, global warming, gun control, etc.

I guess there is more than one definition of conservatism floating around out there, and this won't be text book, but the one we use involves defending, preserving and protecting our constitution, our unalienable rights, our traditional family values, our American heritage, our nation, our borders and our sovereignty.

We aggressively defend our rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!

We aggressively defend our rights to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to keep and bear arms, right to due process, right to equality under the law, right to be governed under the rule of law, right to constitutionally limited government, right to corruption free government, right to self-government and our private property rights, etc.

We also aggressively defend our right to state and local government for all issues not expressly delegated to the central government by the constitution.

We aggressively defend our rights to free markets and our rights to live our lives free of government intrusion, interference, coercion, force, or abuse of any kind.

We aggressively defend our rights to national sovereignty, state sovereignty and individual sovereignty!

And this definition also includes aggressively fighting against all enemies foreign and domestic who may try to deprive us of our rights or sovereignty. This would obviously include all foreign enemies, but also we defend against RINOS, Democrats, liberals, socialists, Marxists, communists, militant feminists or homosexualists, radical environmentalists, etc, etc, etc.

And we expect our elected representatives to also aggressively defend our rights and fight against all enemies foreign and domestic. We do not elect people and send them to DC or our state capitals, etc, to reach across the aisles or to be bipartisan or to negotiate or compromise away our rights. If you're not going to aggressively fight for us, and for our rights, STAY OUT!!

We bow to no king but God!

Our God-given unalienable rights are NOT negotiable!

Do NOT Tread on US!

Thank you very much!

Having someone else other than you pay your bills, makes life crappy for others unless a population agrees to share the risk.

...and the answer is...

My life is good, thanks. I will soon be 62. I live on 217 acres of mostly vertical property. It's hard to get here, if you don't know where you're going. When you get there, you may have to look out for falling lead, if you don't belong.

I own 5 acres. The other 212 was placed in a "Family Trust". I had good reason to do it. I am legally protecting my children. I also have several bags of silver coins, and some gold ones. They are buried. My kids know where. I also have a full pantry, and a full armory. I can unplug from the grid, whenever.

I guess your outlook is a little different from mine. I was taught to take care of myself, and my family. I have done a pretty good job of it. The American way is personal responsibility. How long would you last if you had to start with a mule and a dream? How far would you get without finding a neighbor to borrow a cup a sugar? Your health care guarantee is that mule.

As a Christian, I have also learned the benefits of being charitable. God blesses those who bless others. But, in God's economy, most of my treasures are truly laid up elsewhere.

You stated that as long as a group agrees to share risk, that is good. I agree to contracts all the time. It is when the gum't comes in and says I have to be involved, then it is a socialist action. I heartily disagree with you, there.

You want others to pay for what you cannot. I suggest you work harder and smarter, and eat your greens. A glass of red wine every day will help, as well. This gum't is going to leave you holding the bag with no preparation... and don't count on your Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid. They are just Ponzi schemes, extraordinaire.

What responsiblity do you take for your own health? How about your "estate"? Do you just buy lottery tickets and hope to make enough for your own security?

Did you know there is a Social Security Trust Fund? The Gum't will take care of you...

General P. has previously stated that he is not interested in Presidential politics.

He said that he was not interested in running in the 2008 election. He said that the time was not right yet.

In any case, you must believe that ZB and Joe were lying last week when they said the General told them that he was planning of running in 2012 or 2016.

You seem to want him to not run. Why?

Thanks - just wanted to clear that up because I was one too, for 40 years and six generations. And reaganaut has done a fine job of stating the problems with the way Mormons often backed Romney for no other reason than because he is Mormon. I was away from my computer for the day yesterday and was very pleased to see JimRobs post.

I am sick of the way FR is being used as a way to proselyte for Mormonism and Mitt. Just because many Mormons are very good conservatives - it certainly doesn’t mean that all are - and Mitt isn’t. And I agree with reaganaut, I can’t vote for a Mormon because I know too much to trust them.

As someone else pointed out, the more socially conservative the Mormon the more closely he is going to kowtow to his church, leading to unexpected consequences (like packing offices with Mormons).

I have taken care of myself and my bills are paid and will be no matter what I face.

Will you be paying the million dollar tab if you have cancer, liver or kidney failure and need an organ or a truck hits you and damages your body?

Can you come up with payent for your care or are you expecting charity from the hospitals and docs. Charity which makes others pay more for their services.

Having good health is a blessing, we work for it. But even working, living well, doing all the right things is not enough when cancer, a car or disease hits.

Sarah Palin. Some told me that they did not vote for McCain/Palin because she was on the ticket. THAT shocked me.

I never said I did not have insurance. You assume facts, not in evidence. I have both collision, comprehensive, and also UIM coverages on my cars and trucks. My motor home has a policy to cover me anywhere for whatever happens to it, and tow me to get it done, while I stay in a hotel on their dime.

I have a "catastrophic" health policy, which begins to pick up the tab over $100k. It's pretty cheap. Everything else is out-of-pocket. It's cheaper than those 80/20's.

I have "full-replacement" coverage on my homes, and way too many "insurances" on my businesses and equipment, and contents. Those are mostly 2-way contracts, I elected to enter into. Some are reqired by banks and gum'ts.

My kids will also have a couple of healthy life insurance payouts, to pay death taxes and death fees, and maybe buy a Lambo or two.

Re-read my posts and get back to me. What you want is to REQUIRE me to cover the fat woman on the public dole, who has 10 kids and diabetes. She supplements her income with selling drugs, and loves 'dem gum't checks and all the rest of the handouts...

That is the crux of the matter. Who pays for what you cannot pay without insurance to pick up most of the tab?

Me?

He is not a proponent of socialized medicine much less a creator of such a plan.

What do you call his Federal Free Pill Program? Hardly a free market idea.

The are glued forever to the church and fighting it.

When "the church" gets rid of the 60,000 plus missionaries that go door to door and tell Christians that their faith is 'abominable' (I Nephi 13:26-29) and mormonism is the "only true church", and SLC stops airing commercials promising "free Bibles" just to get names and addresses for those missionaries to contact, come back and tell us about how "they are glued forever to the church and fighting it" and "just won't leave it alone".

It always amuses me that mormons claim the right to proselytize FOR, and condemn the right to proselytize AGAINST.

Jim says:

I say: Free Republic is a LIBERTARIAN site. That does not necessarily mean ALL FREEPERS ARE LIBERTARIANS. In fact there may be many FREEPERS WHO ARE NOT.

But in the past, Jim, I've called on you to make a statement - one way or the other - on the divisive issues of Libertarianism. But you don't.

This thread here? All well and good. But NOW is the time for you to get off the fence and clean house regarding libertarians.

Rude? Name Calling?

Does this mean you deny the rude behavior demonstrated by the anti-Romney crowd? I do not think it is in any way constructive to call people names because we support different conservative candidates. I've been promoting conservatism since Goldwater so it is simply incorrect when folks with a couple of elections under their belt attempt to define my politics as liberal. How many Romney haters here have even read Ayn Rand? Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney were the most adherent of all the last presidential candidates to Objectivism which certainly outlines conservative principles more closely than the Evangelical Movement, and even Fred Thompson had some legislative history that could be construed as capitulating to the left. Every single candidate in the last presidential primary had some record of supporting ideas that could be construed as liberal; for whatever reason, Romney was made the scapegoat.

Even in the post to which I am responding you call me "hilarious" although your tone seems angry rather than jocular. You say it is as though I am "on some other planet whose sole purpose is to provide irony for those of us here on Earth..." but you do not offer a single example where my opinion is out of the range of normal discourse. I do not know what sort of life you lead but I am actively engaged in the real world and live my life as a conservative, self reliant personal example to young people. If I behaved as rudely as some of the anti-Romney folks have here I would never change a single heart or mind. I would only reinforce the ugly stereotype of the right being made up of hate-filled hillbillies.
