I'm going to try one more time to explain what FR is all about.
Free Republic is a conservative site. That does not necessarily mean it is a Republican site. In fact there may be many Republicans we don't support and some Republican issues we cannot agree with.
I'll throw in Arlen Specter as a prime example of a Republican we cannot support. Should be obvious to all why not. Should also be just as obvious to all that we cannot support Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John McCain and his lap dog Lindsay Graham, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, et al.
Some of the issues we cannot support as conservatives even though sometimes initiated by so-called Republicans include TARP, or any kind of government bailout of private enterprise, federal intrusion into free markets, federalized education systems, government provided or controlled health care systems, abortion, gay marriage, amnesty, global warming, gun control, etc.
I guess there is more than one definition of conservatism floating around out there, and this won't be text book, but the one we use involves defending, preserving and protecting our constitution, our unalienable rights, our traditional family values, our American heritage, our nation, our borders and our sovereignty.
We aggressively defend our rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!
We aggressively defend our rights to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to keep and bear arms, right to due process, right to equality under the law, right to be governed under the rule of law, right to constitutionally limited government, right to corruption free government, right to self-government and our private property rights, etc.
We also aggressively defend our right to state and local government for all issues not expressly delegated to the central government by the constitution.
We aggressively defend our rights to free markets and our rights to live our lives free of government intrusion, interference, coercion, force, or abuse of any kind.
We aggressively defend our rights to national sovereignty, state sovereignty and individual sovereignty!
And this definition also includes aggressively fighting against all enemies foreign and domestic who may try to deprive us of our rights or sovereignty. This would obviously include all foreign enemies, but also we defend against RINOS, Democrats, liberals, socialists, Marxists, communists, militant feminists or homosexualists, radical environmentalists, etc, etc, etc.
And we expect our elected representatives to also aggressively defend our rights and fight against all enemies foreign and domestic. We do not elect people and send them to DC or our state capitals, etc, to reach across the aisles or to be bipartisan or to negotiate or compromise away our rights. If you're not going to aggressively fight for us, and for our rights, STAY OUT!!
We bow to no king but God!
Our God-given unalienable rights are NOT negotiable!
Do NOT Tread on US!
Thank you very much!
Yep! and I had Thompson. It was a fractured party.
You’re not listening. The TEA Party Rebellion is not just against the Democrats! I’m 100% in favor of continuing the rebellion against big government socialism regardless of who gets the nod unless he or she is an aggressive fighter FOR our cause!
In this battle for conserving American Liberty, you are either with us or against us!
There is no safe middle ground. No compromise! No surrender! No retreat!
Do NOT tread on me!!
Bravo, Jim.

Dave Leip keeps it real.

“Its almost as if Conservatives need an ACORN equivalent...”
Not an equivalent, but they certainly need a counterbalance in terms of organization, cohesion, and the various kinds of effort involved.
I use my pda for geneology, as well as my work on weekends. I’ve a database app I use. I got tired of carrying both devices, so when the contract came due, I advanced from my old Palm Tungsten to the Centro. And with the contact I was able to get unlimited web/email on it for only $10/mos. Hey, what the heck, right?
I won’t use it much for that, but it also has Google maps, so I can use it as a GPS device as well. That’s what I really like about it. I can set my location, then plug in an address to see where I’m at compared to it.
It’s my Kiwanis stuff that’s keeping me busy. Doin’ the website, monthly newsletter, vp and all that has been busy, busy. Now, with prez next year, I’ll have to train somebody on something. I’m looking at people now...
Please tell me why you feel that way....I’m sure you know a lot more about them than I do, so go ahead & spill the beans if you would.
I am putting my money of General Petraeus. He is an expert on asymmetric warfare. He has met Obama nose-to-nose and taken his measure. Petraeus has met the enemy and knows how defeat this effete uprising.
I know you guys like Hunter and there are definitely some things to like about him, but pushing for him now would be like the rest of us dusting off Fred Thompson and pushing for him now. It’s just plain silly. It’s highly unlikely that he will run again and if he did, the result would likely be the same as it was before.
Anyone who ran in 2008 has shown themselves to be ineffective. That goes for Fred, Hunter, Slick Willard, McBama, any of em.
Quite true, the Tea Parties seemed to be about issues rather than political parties. But was anybody calling out actual names of sellouts?
Isn’t Petraeus still busy in Iraq? Obama could see to his unavailability rather easily.
Great post! Now if only we could make this the Republican Party Platform!
Thanks buddy, thats a good site.
I’m talking about conserving our God-given unalienable rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness! I’m talking about upholding my sworn oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States from ALL enemies foreign AND domestic so help me God!
The rebellion has barely begun and I’m in it for the long haul!
Do not tread on me!!
ping
O-tay, that’s your right. This gosh durned Constitution for all its virtues has bequeathed us a two party system. I see spoilers in my crystal ball.

I think that there are a number of posters who do not understand the purpose of this site. Allowing a vocal group to promote a candidate who does not have valid conservative credentials not only does nothing to advance the conservative cause, it damages it if that candidate is elected.
There are those here who are working to promote candidates such as Romney, whose success would be at the price of our moving forward with a real conservative. The number of threads that are pro-Romney is of concern if we are looking to win with a conservative in 2012.
The Liberals seem to gloss that one over.
I’m just glad to be here and thankful to be able to be a part of such
a distinguished group of people with diverse opinions who
act (mostly) like adults.
Thank you, Jim, for giving conservatives a voice and a
place to be heard.
