If Mitt Romney is in, I'm out!
Declaration of Independence | April 30, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/30/2009 11:50:51 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Yeah, I know. Said some similar things about Bush in 2000. But at least he was pro-life, pro-family, etc, and thank God we supported him over the idiot All Green Gore.

Said similar things about McCain in 2008. But when asked the question "when does human life begin?," and he unabashedly stated, "At conception, of course," I had to take notice. Then when he announced Sarah Palin as his running mate, I decided to support her. I voted for Sarah (and the white haired old geezer that came along with the package).

But Romney is a NO go. And I don't care who this socialist, abortionist, homosexualist, constitution trampling bastard picks for running mate. If Romney's in I'm out!

G.O.P., R.I.P!

I stand by those comments... I like the way you take it out of context. You're shameless. I preferred Fred T, but after he lost, I switched to Mitt... Why didn't you post that one? Oh yeah, it wouldn't serve your interests.

This is your post about "Fred T", in the same month of March, 2007

To: SmithL; All Are we in such dire shape that we're riding most of our hopes on a has-been Senator who may not even join the fray (think Cuomo)? Don't answer that, it's a rhetorical question...
All I can say is that I hope we're all thinking of a backup... Hunter is ABSOLUTELY unelectable... Romney is ok, perhaps a good backup... Rudy would be ok, his overall moderate leanings notwithstanding (lib on social, center to right on fiscal, excellent on WOT, awesome leadership, awesome on law and order). 18 posted on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 9:49:30 AM by NYC Republican (GOPs and Conservatives' Worst Nightmare - Myopic, Single-Issue Voters)

Really? I think the exact same thing about Palin, R-Retard. An individual should be able to complete a few sentences in a row without a grammatical abortion before running for president, no?

Jeb is a whole different ballgame from W and HW. If you take the time to look at his record in FL this will be clear.

Jeb 2012! Or whenever. Or how about taking back a Senate seat for us.

"Governor Mitt Romney, who touts his conservative credentials to out-of-state Republicans,
has passed over GOP lawyers for three-quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he has faced
,
instead tapping registered Democrats or independents -- including two gay lawyers who
have supported expanded same-sex rights, a Globe review of the nominations has found.
Of the 36 people Romney named to be judges or clerk magistrates, 23 are either registered Democrats
or unenrolled voters who have made multiple contributions to Democratic politicians
or who voted in Democratic primaries, state and local records show.
In all, he has nominated nine registered Republicans, 13 unenrolled voters,
and 14 registered Democrats."

Romney Rewards one of the State's Leading Anti-Marriage Attorneys by Making him a Judge
Romney told the U.S. Senate on June 22, 2004, that the "real threat to the States is not the
constitutional amendment process, in which the states participate,
but activist judges who disregard the law and redefine marriage . . ."
Romney sounds tough but yet he had no qualms advancing the legal career of one
of the leading anti-marriage attorneys.
He nominated Stephen Abany to a District Court.
Abany has been a key player in the Massachusetts Lesbian and Gay Bar Association which,
in its own words, is "dedicated to ensuring that the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision
on marriage equality is upheld, and that any anti-gay amendment or legislation is defeated."
- U.S. Senate testimony by Gov. Mitt Romney, 6/22/2004 P>

"Romney announces he won't fill judicial vacancies before term ends
Despite his rhetoric about judicial activism, Romney announced that
he won't fill all the remaining vacancies during his term - but instead
leave them for his liberal Democrat successor!

Governor Mitt Romney pledged yesterday not to make a flurry of lame-duck
judicial appointments in the final days of his administration . . . David Yas,
editor of Lawyers Weekly, said Romney is "bucking tradition" by resisting the urge to
fill all remaining judgeships. "It is a tradition for governors to use that power to appoint judges
aggressively in the waning moments of their administration," Yas said.
He added that Romney has been criticized for failing to make judicial appointments.
"The legal community has consistently criticized him for not filling open seats quickly enough
and being a little too painstaking in the process and being dismissive of the input of the
Judicial Nominating Commission," Yas said.

“The Massachusetts Republican Party died last Tuesday.
The cause of death: failed leadership.

The party is survived by a few leftover legislators
and a handful of county officials and grassroots activists
who have been ignored for years.
Services will be public and a mass exodus of taxpayers will follow.
In lieu of flowers, send messages to Republican voters
warning them about a certain presidential candidate named Romney.”
- Boston Herald, 11/12/2006

"In 2006, while Romney was chairman of the National Republican
Governors Association - a group dedicated to electing more
Republican governors - his own hand-picked Republican successor
as governor lost badly to the Democrat, despite the fact that Republicans
have held the governorship in Massachusetts since 1990. Romney largely
ignored the Massachusetts elections and spent most of the time
during the campaign out of state building his presidential campaign.
He came back and publicly campaigned for the Republican candidate
the day before the general election!
“Locally, this is a rebuke to Mitt Romney and checking out within six months
after being elected and having accomplished almost nothing,”

[Jim] Rappaport [former chairman of the state Republican Party]."

I posted a direct quote from her and you posted an opinion piece pulled from “Gaywired”.

I find it ironic that the anti crowd is always armed with smears linked to gay sources to try to take down Mitt.

The question you have to ask yourself is why do gays hate him so much. Do you think it might be because Romney was one of the first people to oppose gay marriage?

If I were you I’d spend less time sifting through that garbage.

BarnacleCenturion (RomneyBOT, previously claimed Gen.Romney was Mitt Romney's relative (*):
"The question you have to ask yourself is why do gays hate him so much.
Do you think it might be because Romney was one of the first people to oppose gay marriage?"

Bzzzzzzt. More untruth from the BarnacleCenturion.

FACT: Romney IMPOSED gay marriage (**), on his way to imposing polygamy and socialized medicine.

(*):

ansel12 (FReeper patriot): “No Romney man has ever served the United States in a military uniform, ever, ever, ever.”

BarnacleCenturion (habitual deceiver for Romney): "What about Maj. Gen. Jean A. Romney?
Born on St. Croix, Romney joined the U.S. Army one year after graduating from then-Christiansted High School.
Including his active Army and National Guard service, his career spanned 29 years.
He received many Army decorations and badges, including Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal,
Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal, among other awards.
Speaking at the 2000 ceremony which handed over the reins to the new Adj. Gen. Cleave A. McBean,
Romney said, “My ascending to the position of adjutant general was perhaps the highlight of my career.
But it did not come without hard work and dedication, qualities that were instilled in me when I joined the Army one year after graduating from high school.”
“A shining example of self-discipline, dedication and perseverance, Major General Romney personified the value of continuing education,”
said a release from Lt. Gov. Vargrave Richards. “He was a true leader.”
“In addition to an impressive career,” said the release, his “dedication to the youth of the Virgin Islands was highly admirable and an inspiration.”

The reality:

Maj. Gen. Jean A. Romney

(**):

Spoiler Mitt Romney personally, as in himself, as in alone, personally destroyed the Massachusetts Constitution (the oldest in the USA).

"Experts: Credit Romney for homosexual marriage"
"What he (Governor Bishop Mitt Romney) did was exercise illegal legislative authority'

"While former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney claims he did everything possible to throttle homosexual marriage in his state – his campaign now saying he took "every conceivable step within the law to defend traditional marriage" – several constitutional experts say that just isn't so.

"What Romney did [was] he exercised illegal legislative authority," Herb Titus said of the governor's actions after the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court released its opinion in the Goodridge case in 2003. "He was bound by what? There was no order. There wasn't even any order to the Department of Public Health to do anything."

Titus, a Harvard law graduate, was founding dean of Pat Robertson's Regent University Law School. He also worked with former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, ...

Romney's aides have told WND that after four of the seven court members reinterpreted the definition of marriage, he believed he had no choice but to direct clerks and others to change state marriage forms and begin registering same-sex couples.

Some opponents contend that with those actions, Romney did no more or less than create the first homosexual marriages recognized in the nation. And Titus agrees."

"....But the court's decision conflicts with the constitutional philosophy of three co-equal branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial, Titus said. It also violates with the Massachusetts Constitution, which states: "The power of suspending the laws, or (suspending) the execution of the laws, ought never to be exercised but by the legislature..."

And it cannot even be derived from the opinion itself, asserts the pro-family activist group Mass Resistance, which says the decision did four things:

* First, it acknowledged that the current law does not permit same-sex marriage.

"The only reasonable explanation is that the Legislature did not intend that same-sex couples be licensed to marry. We conclude, as did the judge, that G.L. c. 207 may not be construed to permit same-sex couples to marry."

* Second, it said it is NOT striking down the marriage laws (among other things, the Massachusetts Constitution forbids a court to change laws)

"Here, no one argues that striking down the marriage laws is an appropriate form of relief."

* Third, it declared that not allowing same-sex marriages is a violation of the Massachusetts Constitution.

"We declare that barring an individual from the protections, benefits, and obligations of civil marriage solely because that person would marry a person of the same sex violates the Massachusetts Constitution."

* And fourth, given that the court is not changing any laws, the SJC gave the Legislature 180 days to "take such action as it may deem appropriate."

"We vacate the summary judgment for the department. We remand this case to the Superior Court for entry of judgment consistent with this opinion. Entry of judgment shall be stayed for 180 days to permit the Legislature to take such action as it may deem appropriate in light of this opinion."

After the Legislature did nothing during the 180 days, Romney then took action "on his own," the group said.

"Gov. Romney's legal counsel issued a directive to the Justices of the Peace that they must perform same-sex marriages when requested or 'face personal liability' or be fired," the group said."

Oh, EXCELLENT, Nana, just excellent! You deserve EIGHT gold stars for this gem from Time back in '64:

Cried Actor Ronald Reagan, co-chairman of California’s Citizens for Goldwater and an early-form pick among right-wingers for the state’s 1966 gubernatorial nomination: “We don’t intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended.”

Between rounds of golf, Goldwater himself took time out to lambast such middle-roading Republicans as Governors Nelson Rockefeller of New York and George Romney of Michigan ...

ALL of you Romney supporters I pinged on this post -- TAdamse, Enchiladita, Edit, Barnie -- is Nana's post and are Reagan's and Goldwater's words, representative of "hatred" and anti-Mormon bigotry and vehemence, as you so solidly believe is what drives we "haters" (your word, not mine) who oppose Mitt Romney and want to see him rejected from the GOP lineup of power-players ASAP so he is prevented from draining the finances and resources of worthy conservative candidadtes who, as long as Romney is competiting against them, will have to waste time and money countering his duplicity?

You dare to continue to whine and cry that Romney only lost because of "hatred"???

Is it possible that you are the ones consumed by hatred for those conservatives who disagree with you and reject Romney? But again, just like mother who sighs wearily when her little girl screams, "Mommy, you HATE me!" because mom won't let her stay up until midnight, we know you don't really hate us -- you are just angry, irrational, and emotional.

Even FR needs to get its act together and settle on a candidate in 2012 - FR members can make a huge difference and can do even more to support the right person.

That's the obvious way to look at it, but what's obvious isn't always complete. The COMPLETE picture includes a liberal Republican, Romney, who has lots of money, has bought or schmoozed his way into places of power in the GOP hierarchy, and is apparently determined to get the presidential nomination. Romney alone is a huge drain on the money and resources of every single truly conservative candidate we FReepers would like to see put up as a possibility -- Palin, Jindal, Sanford, come to mind right off the top. Romney STANDS IN THEIR WAY, though he pretends to support them.

It is silliness of any poster to talk about a "100 percent acceptable candidate," because that only happens under dictatorships. What we are really dealing with here is a candidate that is 51-percent-or-more in acceptability, and certainly Romney fails that. It isn't that Romney is the lesser of evils -- he IS symptomatic of the evil, he IS symptomatic of the problem, and for that reason, he needs to be rejected if the GOP wants to proceed to finding the right candidate who will take us and our nation to victory.

Ousting Romney must be part of finding the right candidate. It is poor judgement to think we can just leave him where he is until we find someone better. Left where he is, Romney will do everything in his power to prevent someone better from ever rising to the top.

Yes, Barnacle is probably the most blatant liar among the Romney supporters. He has never yet responded now to several queries of mine. He claimed that the flyers of Romney's attempts to woo the gay community during his run for Governer were forgeries; when I asked him for proof or evidence ... crickets ... though I have asked him several times to respond.

Most recently, when I called him on the blatant falsehood that Rush Limbaugh "supported" Romney, he responded with the latin phrase for "Blessed are the poor in spirit." Condescending, pompous ... and cowardly. So I asked him in post 788 on this thread:

If the poor in spirit are blessed, what are the deceitful in purpose, like yourself? Because you are absolutely, deliberately deceitful in how you portray what Rush Limbaugh has said about Romney. And this time, write your response in English.

By the way, you never did respond to my post a month or so back asking you for evidence that pics of flyers and posters of Romney's appealing to homosexuals during his run for Mass Gov. were forgeries, as you implied. Can you respond to it now?

So, hey, BARNACLE CENTURION, care to respond now to these two queries with answers instead of evasions couched in Latin or deflections to another topic? The questions are both pretty straightforward:
1: If the poor in spirit are blessed, what are the deceitful in purpose?
2. What evidence or proof do you have that the photos of the pink flyer and promotional article documenting Romney's wooing of the Gay community, were forgeries?

Can you answer these straightforward questions? Or are you too cowardly a liar to come out of your cave?
