Guess you heard that 68% of "the youth vote" went to Obama. My granddaughter called this morning to tell me she was one of them. I replied with this e-mail:
The election of Obama comes down to this. Your grandmother and I, your mother and other productive wage-earning taxpayers will have their taxes increased and that means less income. Less income means we will have to cut back on basic purchases, gifts and handouts.
That includes firing the Hispanic lady who cleans our house twice a month. She just lost her job. We can't afford her anymore.
What is the economic effect of Obama's election on you personally? Over the years, your grandmother and I have given you thousands of dollars in food, housing, cash, clothing, gifts, etc., etc.
By your vote, you have chosen another family over ours for help. So in the future, if you need assistance with your rent, money for gas, tires for your car, someone to bring you lunch, etc....call 202-456-1111. That's the telephone number for the Office of the President of the United States .
I'm sure Mr.Obama will be happy to send a check from his personal or business accounts or leave cash in an envelope taped to his front door.
It's like this. Those who vote for the president should consider what the impact of an election will be on the nation as a whole and not just be concerned with what they can get for themselves (welfare, etc.). What Obama voters don't seem to realize is that the government's money comes from taxes collected from taxpaying families. Raising taxes on productive people means they will have less money to spend on their families.
Congratulations on your choice. For future reference, you might attempt to add up all you've received from us, your mom, Mike's parents and others and compare it to what you expect to get over the next four years from Mr. Obama.
To congratulate Mr. Obama and to make sure you're on the list for handouts, write to:
The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW Washington , DC 20500
Love you, but call the number listed above when you need help.
Granddad
Even if your grandkids joined the Hitlerjugend or ratted out their parents to the Soviet state for keeping a Bible?
Things are not that dire...yet. But Obama's term will not be good for America and the people in his corner have loathed this nation for 40+ years. They used to riot in the streets and agitate on campuses. Now they run the DNC and anchor the nightly news.
I don't believe what comes out of their mouths any more than I would the words of Stalinists. To too many Americans, Code Pink is a "misguided" peace movement. They are Communist stooges who have crossed the line of "peaceful" protest with their stalking of Republican politicos using forged access badges (didn't they attempt to handcuff Condi Rice?).
“I was awakened from my vegetative state as soon as I graduated from college...”
I have a feeling that happens a LOT, when people have to work for a living. My husband said he became a conservative as a student at Berkeley in the ‘70s. He observed the lib students and decided he didn’t want to be like them. (He may be the only person in the world to became conservative at Berkeley!)
When Zero gets his “voluntary/mandatory” youth groups going (passed the House with Pub votes and looks a go for the Senate) these graduating airheads will not be too happy.
I agree to a certain extent. There comes a time when you have to draw the line with kids. They need to see the consequences of their actions and, while I would never withhold love or basic support, I might not be as generous.
My parents are very conservative and the most generous people I know. Between we 7 kids, you wouldn’t believe the things that they do to help us at one time or another. And, although I do think they are more pleased with we kids that turned out conservative, they are no strings attached to their support.
They love us all and I have to say they put up with a heckuvalot more than I would. Honestly, some days, I don’t know how they do it. My eldest bother is as far left as they come. He is a self-described Marxist. He is constantly railing against evil business, the military etc.....................................as he lives under my PARENTS’ roof off the money my dad earned as a retired AF officer and, then, small business owner! For the life of me, I can’t see how this 44-year-old man — a National Merit Scholar — cannot grasp the irony of his situation! My parents are saints.
The example she gave was about people sharing a house. One guy goes out and works hard and makes a lot of money, one mows lawns as a part time job, and the third watches TV all day.
Would it be fair for them to all divide all their money equally?
Pretty obvious, even to a third grader, that this wouldn’t be just.
Pretty obvious, to an “adult” leftist, that this WOULD be a just solution.
Youth vote1?! I have a friend, 58 year old, widowed, white, college educated, woman, who has voted Republican since Carter. She voted for Obama and her reason “I have always loved black people and it’s time they had a chance.” When I shreiked “are you crazy?”; she got defensive and replied “well, it was my vote and if I was wrong, this won’t be the first time nor the last.”
I didn’t even ask about her two adult children, I’m sure they voted as she did. She has lost it since her husband died.
Of course with my conservative family we will also talk about money and how we are going to protect ourselves, but the difference is it won't be controversial as they didn't have a hand in the why. Whereas Mom and the rest of my family will think I am punishing them when really they will be seeing and hearing about the results of their actions.
I think it is a thin line, but a line nonetheless in that liberals need to see what their class envy and hate gets them in reality. Is this punishment or is it just the facts ma'am? I guess only John Galt can answer that. LOL. Thanks for the posts and input.
I wouldn’t worry about it too much. When I was 18 I registered to vote as a Demoncrat. I also considered myself a pro abortion feminist. I guess you could say I’ve come a long way, baby.
They do tend to be a bit like Totalitarians when it comes to speech with which they disagree. God bless your husband.
It is also clear our country needs as much support as possible to protect Her constitution and her founding values. I want very much for my life earnings to go to the long term growth of our nation as a free and Godly nation more so than I want a bunch of liberal wealthy haters to receive my wealth. That is all.
That would be the “bitter single female” demographic that is the democrats’ most reliable voting block.
They always vote for the “substitute husband”.
Huh? Your mother hates you?

She hates wealthy people. She thinks they should be taxed at a much higher rate. She thinks too much wealth generation is bad. She agrees with Obama. She thinks wealth and the wealthy are evil, so yeah.
BS, she was brainwashed by her teachers since she was in kindergarten. She is lucky that she didn't register communist. Her parents probably did their best but you cannot control totally what children will do when they are exposed to propaganda by the state for more than 8 hours per day, plus from her peers who also buy into this crap. Some kids, like my grandson, see through this sh** but most of them do not until they are older and start to think for themselves. Blaming parents is just idiotic.
You are a terrible person to make your statement and to cause pain to this parent. No sympathy to you and if I didn't want to get banned I would have many nasty words to say to you.
pm me then
My two Springers think all vets are perverts with that thermometer.
I was in college, and in our infinite wisdom, we debated the candidates ENDLESSLY at the cafeteria supper table. My friend decided I had a point, and voted for Jimmy Carter. I decided he had a point, but couldn’t bring myself to vote for Ford. I stepped into the booth and pulled the lever for someone I’d never heard of. Only later, as we were all watching the returns together, did I discover Lester Maddox was WAY over the edge. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lester_Maddox)
What can I say at this point? We obviously don’t see the world through the same eyes. I would never let politics influence how I treat my family. Your mileage obviously differs.
Yeah, I was 20 then, and that was pretty much right down the line for me too. I saw, throught jr high, what Carter had wrought and had a bellyful. God Bless Ronald Reagan.
