Ammo flying off store shelves

TAMPA - After President Barack Obama won the election, people flooded gun stores because of speculation that he may limit gun ownership or raise taxes on them. Even though neither has happened, the amount of people wanting to get their hands on a gun hasn't gone down. Scott Patrick is the General Manager of the Shoot Straight gun range in Tampa. He says the number of people coming into his store is still going up. "For whatever reason, whether it's the economy or crime, people don't feel safe," he said. Patrick is having serious trouble keeping all kinds of fire arms in stock, even holsters are often backordered. However, he says ammunition is what is really flying off store shelves. Ammo that sells for personal protection is as good as gold these days, and it's costing 30 to 40 percent more than it used to.

Dood! He’s been to the woodshed.

Leave him a little dignity, please.

Maybe the g36 is what I want since I don’t want to shoot it.

It would be strictly for concealed carry and I want something that will fit close and be light enough to forget.

That sounds pretty reasonable if you can prevent yourself from "learning" a flinch when firing it. The last time I shot my old g30 was after a two year hiatus. I was able to comfortably hit a 4x4 steel at ten yards from the first shot.

"Generally,no need for pistols in the hunting field."

Unless you're an adequate shot.

I've done a significant amount of large game hunting with a pistol, successfully, and never felt I was underequipped.

Admittedly, quail are tough, though.
<grin>

Those that don't understand the stocking up on firearms don't seem to recall the prices on ARs and such back when the Clintons were befouling the White House.

northisander, don’t let the aholes get you down. You can buy as much or as little ordinance as you want. If you feel safe with a few boxes, thats your decision alone. It impacts no one but you and your family. By the response in this thread you’d think you were trying to take stuff away from people.

Yeah,
Well they cashed my check in about 7 days and I still haven’t gotten it.
Kid sent a check in a week before me and just finally got his last week.
Cashed his check real quick too.
4 months is not acceptable.
Govt. ineptness as usual.

" A typical box of shotgun ammo holds five — that’s right, FIVE! — cartridges."

That's true of slugs and buckshot only - any other game or sporting loads are available almost exclusively in boxes of 25, as (almost) everyone knows...

No, I mean it’s mandated by law. They used to have to have it to you in 90 days or issue you a reason for denial. Has that changed?

“rich” ethnic majority families get foreclosed on, HUD subsidized families move in to said homes.

Oh, I've been convinced for awhile now that the feds will force local municipalities to buy foreclosed housing and turn it into "Section 8" or low-income housing.

Watch. Coming soon to a neighborhood near you.
