Ammo flying off store shelves

TAMPA - After President Barack Obama won the election, people flooded gun stores because of speculation that he may limit gun ownership or raise taxes on them. Even though neither has happened, the amount of people wanting to get their hands on a gun hasn't gone down. Scott Patrick is the General Manager of the Shoot Straight gun range in Tampa. He says the number of people coming into his store is still going up. "For whatever reason, whether it's the economy or crime, people don't feel safe," he said. Patrick is having serious trouble keeping all kinds of fire arms in stock, even holsters are often backordered. However, he says ammunition is what is really flying off store shelves. Ammo that sells for personal protection is as good as gold these days, and it's costing 30 to 40 percent more than it used to.

There is another inexplicable remark of yous "If you want to take drugs, there appears to be plenty down in Mexico for you."

There is tons of it in the US. that just tells me how out of touch you truly are.

OK, the GDP is shrinking at a 3-4% annual rate for now.

This is likely to accelerate in the months to come giving us the greatest depression ever.

The seeds of broad economic recovery will be sewn in 2024 and by 2027 we will be growing nicely again.

Prepare for the depression we are already in to last another 15 years.

Yes, there will be periods rapidly rising prices guaranteed by the inflation of the money supply we are witnessing.

Why not go directly to the source and save?

As a hoarder, you could buy wholesale and kill two birds with one stone.

Heck, I’d get up and start shooting at 4:30AM every day if it would’nt get me in trouble with the neighbors.

You poser...real Americans would get up a half hour before they went to bed to go shootin'! ;o)

Look for this to happen soon:

“rich” ethnic majority families get foreclosed on,
HUD subsidized families move in to said homes.

Considering your nomex may be about flamed off with all the incoming posts, all I have to say is the 2nd Amendment has less to do with hunting than about protecting America from tyranny such as we may be seeing coming over the next hill. Buying ammo is not the same as the Y2K crap as you refer. Even if zero does zero, ammo will hold its resell value.

Yes, true enough dusttoyou.

Still, nice to have a fresh supply and not so much that you have to turn it over out of concern.

Yes, ammo is currency just about everywhere. Always has been.

Yes, ammo will keep up with the CPI or even do a little better.

It is just that I can think of better places to store extra dollars for now.

“It is just that I can think of better places to store extra dollars for now.”

Real estate?

Stocks?

Currency?

Gold after it hits all time highs?

Curious where you are looking?

My earlier post:

“Obviously, the second amendment is not ‘nefarious’ and not one of my comments should have been interpreted as implying such.

We all know the second has nothing to do with target practice or hunting.

IT HAS TO DO WITH OVERTHROWING A TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT!

I don’t consider that nefarious in any sense.

Tyrannical governments are nefarious by definition.”

“Your wonderful neighbors will become wolves if they are hungry.”

Now, my neighbors are all Mormons. They are probably more worried about me than I am of them...

“My neighbors have been calling me Rambo for 29 years.”

IIRC, Rambo stocked up with more than one box of ammo!

Your Statement: "but I think he fully intends to liberate vacant houses to squatters, and has no problem with it."...He swore to uphold the law and the law protects people and their right to be secure in their ownership of property.

What people? The banks? You might as well be defending the entertainment industry from pirating. In the final analysis, I would have to acknowledge their right to intellectual property, but that particular industry has single-handedly done so much to degrade the moral fabric of its customers you're gonna have to drag me kicking and screaming to do it.

I'm gonna look kinda funny squatting on my 5BR 4BT on the golf course, but unless I miss my guess, my neighbors will all be in default long before I am...

To be followed by a rash of arsons in similarly foreclosed properties...
