The White House is lashing out publicly and personally at a CNBC reporter whose attack on President Barack Obamas anti-foreclosure plan caught fire on the Internet on Thursday.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs jumped at the chance to go after the CNBC journalist, Rick Santelli, when a question about his bracing critique was asked at Fridays news briefing.
Ive watched Mr. Santelli on cable the past 24 hours or so. Im not entirely sure where Mr. Santelli lives or in what house he lives but the American people are struggling every day to meet their mortgages, stay in their jobs, pay their bills, send their kids to school, Gibbs said. I think we left a few months ago the adage that if it was good for a derivatives trader that it was good for Main Street. I think the verdict is in on that, the press secretary said, poking directly at the cable journalist, who reports from the trading floor at the Chicago Board of Trade.
Gibbs insisted Santelli was misinformed when he said Obamas program would amount to a transfer of money from prudent taxpayers to those who had taken reckless risks.

I’ll second that!
What happened? I thought for 8 years they told us “dissent is patriotic”.
That is the prerequisite for most any job with democrats these days.
Call me dubious...particularly since Santelli isn’t living off the government/us.
Oh, so now if you have a house and are making the payments- you’re not entitled to criticize the deadbeats looking for gubmint money?
I predicted Santelli would get a “Joe the Plumber” media colonoscopy-. I didn’t expect the WH press secretary to be cheering. Gibbs is a despicable liitle grub, isn’t he?
A pasty twerp punk who probably has to pay for dates.
Who is he related to that got him that job????
Joe the Plumber - Part II. No one should dare get in the way of the messiah's socialist agenda.
Here’s an idea, maybe the government can freely allow private citizens to exercise their first amendment rights to criticize. Didn’t Hilary say that it was patriotic to voice dissent?
Mr. President, I don’t want to be punished with a bailout.
We’ve found out that 0bama doesn’t like to be called a Socialist, and gets real bent out of shape when it happens.
He probably is fuming at Putin as of yesterday.
Gibbs is a punk. The whole White House crew are punks.
Does the current occupant of the White House know we have a document called the Constitution of the United States? It’s hard to tell, since he has spent the fist month of this administration weighing the feasibility of destroying citizen’s rights protected under the First Amendment.
Rush wondered how long before the troops deployed to Alaska to dumpster dive would be on his case.
I suspect Mr. Santelli’s affiliation with General Electric and NBC News is about to come to an end.
“Santelli touched a nerve, didnt he?”
<<<Sure did!
Wow, I hope that has gone viral in a big way!
Me neither.....but I'd be willing to bet his mortgage and tax payments are current.
Flip and spin to class envy and racism...its a pattern.
The guy told it like it is.
Count me in too. I up for a some serious hell raising!
Heard it WLS this morning, with discussion following. It was great. A Chicago Tea Party? I'm in!
