Call to action: Possible Action Items for Regional FReeper Conventions

Just throwing out a handful of ideas for discussion:
- How to develop local chapters/conservative grassroots groups.
- Develop a conservative platform and a plan for recruiting, training, supporting and electing conservative candidates.
- Develop ideas for building an effective nationwide conservative grassroots network.
- How to combat the Fairness Doctrine? Install offshore servers? Private BBS? Email/Phone/Fax lists? Shortwave radio? Local/personal networking?
- Working with other conservative groups, political parties?
- Would a FReeper PAC be feasible? Practical? Effective?
- Would a FReeper 527 organization be feasible? Practical? Effective?
- How to infiltrate/influence local political organizations?
- Select and fund delegates for a national convention should our membership decide one is needed.

“Would a FReeper PAC be feasible? Practical? Effective?”
FreePAC... I like it!
Speaking of PACs, has anyone attended a CPAC event in recent years? If so, is there good information presented to become active, or is it primarily a forum for the celebrity-type conservatives to hawk books, etc.?

Very timely and much needed, Jim. Please add me to ping list.
At some point we’re going to have to include a longer range perspective. As a starter, those interested might review the communist’s objectives (particularly #15 and above), as read into the congressional record in 1963. With only a few additions and minor changes this list could equally well have been drawn up by Islamists. The left has been been enormously successful in achieving these objectives and it will take long range planning and action to undo them. The list can be seen at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/962461/posts

Great list. I for one do not know what a PAC is or a 527. Need to brush up on those terms prior to discussing. Also fighting the Fascist (UN)Fairnesss Doctrine for me is one of the most pressing (there are a lot of pressing issues right now including insuring there are no new forthcoming laws, but the FD feels like it is something very tangible RIGHT NOW.)
I just moved to Santa Barbara and am not involved in the local GOP as of yet, but I do know they have the Young Peoples' conservative group here tied to the Reagan Ranch as well as a Lincoln club (in addition to the regular GOP), and a women's Republican group. I am wondering if there is a way to build off of some of these groups or in spite of them--meaning shall we build from the ground up or to use existing resources in which to build or both?
Maybe we need to put together a mission statement first so as to 'recruit' or be able to present a mission statement and then clearly defined objectives that tie in. You have already outline some good ones Jim such as the stopping the FD (I include in ANY of its forms) as well as planning ahead to side step any anticipated shutting down of speech.

Great idea, Jim. But, respectfully -- I think the first concern is to find out how to get the fence-riders off the fence. There are too many people, even the ones who will be greatly affected by Obama's and Pelosi's doings, who are not willing to lift a finger or raise a voice -- not until Obama's goons are literally kicking down their doors in the middle of the night. (At which time, they get all goggle-eyed in perplexed amazement, saying to themselves "How could this have happened?")
Putting it out there to see if any of the FReepers have any ideas how to motivate these types of people.

Another question is as we organize how do we combat infiltration or them ‘watching’ us organize against such things as the Fairness Doctrine. Don’t want to give away the game plan to the enemy as we create it. Thoughts anyone? What are the most secure ways of communicating while also shielding as much ‘infiltration’ as possible?

Also Jim — I don’t know if this is do-able, but a big help to motivate people would be if you were able to get some “big guns” onboard — Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, the NRA, etc. Not only to publicize and promote it, but to attend and speak at any public gatherings.

We are just beginning to organize. Many are discussing it on various threads or on their state boards. Hoping more people will start threads dedicated to their states or local regions. Costs will depend on the size of the meetings, if a rented facility is needed and or if dinner is included.

Many FR people have gone to CPAC over the years.
There doesn't seem to be much interest this year, especially since Palin is not going to be there after all.
Rush, Coulter and many others will speak, and it is generally a good conservative event.
Here's a Current Thread about it with comments by a few FR'ers that are going.
