WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Sherrod Brown is returning from his mother’s memorial services for what could be the decisive 60th vote needed to send the $787 billion economic stimulus plan to President Barack Obama.

The White House has arranged a plane to fly the Ohio Democrat to Washington Friday night and then back to Ohio immediately after the scheduled vote so he can attend church services and the funeral for his mother in Mansfield Saturday morning, his office said.

Brown’s mother, Emily Campbell Brown, died on Feb. 2 at age 88. Funeral arrangements were announced later that week.

Brown was to leave for Washington after visiting hours ended at 8 p.m., landing at Andrews Air Force Base in the D.C. suburbs. The vote will be held open until Brown arrives.

A White House official said government transportation was provided because there were no commercial flights available that would allow Brown to make the vote and attend services memorializing his mother.

Democrats, with 58 members in the Senate, can count on only three Republican supporters in getting the 60 votes needed to pass the stimulus package. Because Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., who is being treated for brain cancer, is not expected to be in Washington for the vote, Brown’s vote may be crucial. The House passed the measure Friday with no Republican supporters.

Flipped the tv on to C-span and noticed they are NOT showing the vote the way they usually do (could the be in cahoots with liberals to protect the RINOs?? Surely not!! /sarc) so
I’m not sure what’s going on (now hubby has switched it to the Stars hockey game!)—I’m guessing the 3 Liberinos did vote yes from the count of 59? This Sen. Brown, it says they
are expecting him/her to vote YES, any chance that won’t happen??

The vote is being held open until Sherrod Brown can return from Ohion from the wake for his mother. Obama dispatched a government jet to wing him back to DC, where he is expected to show up around 10:30 pm to caste vote 60.

Rep. McCotter Reads to House a Furious Letter From Jobless Constituent Blasting Porkulus

Dear Congressman McCotter,

I spoke with you on WJR Friday morning and want to thank you for your kindness and patience. I couldn’t get out everything I wanted to say because of my frustration. I would love to talk before Congress and the Senate. I would like to talk to them about the deplorable, reprehensible, and egregious waste they are considering with our tax dollars. I’m sorry this is long, but I want them to see what I see.

The wasteful spending they are considering is unconscionable to me. And I would like to ask them a few questions.

You see, I just lost my job. The company I worked for is eliminating 700 sales positions nationwide, about 15 will be affected in Michigan.

I would like to ask the Congress and Senate if they know what it’s like to sit at the dinner table and tell your 11 year old daughter that she can’t get a school yearbook because we need the money to buy groceries. And the stimulus package wants to give $4 Billion to ACORN, a company, I believe, that is under investigation for voter registration fraud. What jobs are they creating?

Do they know what it’s like to see the tears in your wife’s eyes when you tell her the conference call you were on just eliminated your position? And the stimulus package wants to spend $335 million on STD prevention? What jobs does that create?

Do they know what it feels like to tell your father in law that the daughter I married and promised to provide for that you just lost your job? And Barack Obama spends money on overseas abortions. And then says we need to end the politics of this issue. If he believed that he wouldn’t have done it, his decision was nothing but political. What jobs in the U.S. does that create?

Do they know what it feels like to return the shirts you just bought for work, on clearance, because you really needed new shirts and now you don’t even have a job? And Congress is taking an extra $93,000 each for petty cash increases. And WE are told to cut back on our spending? When I told my 7 year old son we had to make cuts he just wanted to know if we could still have our Sunday morning treat of a donut before we go to church. That’s all he wanted. I said we’d try our best. We’ve made sacrifices but you haven’t. .................

No one could get a mortgage with that kind of debt to income ratio and if we had that kind of debt and tried to print our own money to cover the debt and our reckless “wants” we’d be sent to prision... yet our government can do it and not have any ramifications — because THEY won’t — WE will!
