Brought to you by the Obama Chicago machine. Are you ready for the House Bill titled 'HR 45, Blair Holt Licensing and Record Act of 2009'.
It will make it illegal to own a firearm unless it is registered with the database in Washington D.C. As a gun owner you will have to be finger printed, you will be required to provide your DL#, SS#, you must maintain a valid address at all times, submit to mental amd physical health records being put on file, you will also be required to file any address changes and you must report any ownership changes even if private sale.
Each update will cost $25 and if you fail to comply you will lose your right to own firearms and be subject to criminal penalties.
This bill and its language mirror almost completely one defeated last year in the House of Representatives by soon to be Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. Will we the citizenry be as lucky this time?
We cannot let them pass this bill!

That would be mighty American of you, but Chicago and most big cities are not America.
Body armor may be illegal to own, yet our kids are dying. "Kevlar For Kids"!!
Let the Left try to come out against Kevlar for Kids. They can't do it. Their hypocrisy would be on parade. Tommy Hilfiger could sow one into a hooded sweatshirt for pennies. You could even get one for low-pants wearers to prevent getting your butt shot-off.

Chance of reaching the floor, IMHO: None and none. More likely, and how likely I don't know, it will get incorporated into some "Must Pass" Omnibus Something Or Other bill, just like the assault weapons ban did.

I did not mean it literally about Obama falling for anything. Where I was trying to go is his liberal ideals the way he wants to protect terrorists and shut down Gitmo. What I meant was he has the mindset to tell Castro yes take Gitmo.
No other President (not even Clinton) has done foreign policy like such a blatent marxist. Not even Clinton or Jimmay Carter negotiated with terrorists and spoke in perfect tongue with Iran's arachmadinajad abdul P. terrorist that is in bed with commie russia and china.

Yeah, but it may be *too* subtle.... also, it’s not great to be running around with an emblem of, to be frank, failure.

Now THAT is the spirit!

No wonder guns are flying off the shelves... And going for exorbitant prices. I inquired about an "optics ready" Bushmaster carbine at the same store where my coworker's wife bought him one for Christmas a year ago. She paid $700, they now want $1200.

Some talk this evening of the possible appointment of that Republican to Obama’s gubmint, which could result in Dem governor appointing a Dem to replace him and give the Dems their 60 votes.

"As far as this bill not going anywhere. Quite sadly they have all their ducks lined up to pass garbage such as this."
Democrat voters in rough, inner-city neighborhoods are very much against firearms control laws. Democrats in favor of such laws are much more often than not, white, wealthy suburbanites.

Alot of LEOs are ex-military, lest you forget. They took an oath and it will be forever in the back of their minds...
I know they will never follow tyranny regardless of a retirement plan.

when does he get the puppy that will be a weeks worth of news.
To: George Smiley
This bill is stuck in committee. 3+ weeks is not "stuck in committe". It might be, but they may just have "not gotten around to it" yet. They've been busy with the Porkulus Bill.
But that said, I still predict it will get attached to some other bill and never even be voted on in committee as a stand alone bill.

I didn't say all, but placing faith in government employees to do what's in the best interests of the citizenry is folly.

My apologies then — we are definitely on the same page. Obama has me so ticked off today that subtle humor is completely passing me by at the moment... :)

It’s Bobby Rush in Illinois with no cosponsors. It won’t even get out of the House.

I hope you are right, but I expect at least 8 out of 10 LEOs to fall into line with those who pay their retirement benefits. A surprising number don't even know the laws they are supposed to be enforcing, so expecting them to support the constitution is perhaps a stretch. Interesting, would you have your police officers making decisions on which laws are constitutional and which are not?
