All Hail the Free Republic!

There are, occasionally, developments that have the capacity to fundamentally change the landscape of our political culture. Historically these fundamental changes have happened once or perhaps twice in an average persons lifetime. In these times of weblogs and twenty-four hour news channels, we are seeing these fundamental changes happen all the more frequently and with all the more suddenness and impact upon our lives. No matter what the nature or scope of an event, or where it is in the world, and despite my subscriptions to God-knows-how-many news sources, I probably choose to get about 75% of my breaking news from one source, http://www.freerepublic.com/. It isn't that the freepers have such an ivy-league staff. ... the vile nature of some of the stuff I have read on The Daily Kos and Huffington Post ...

And don't forget DUmmieland. Yea, I hear you. I'll pop in over there once in while and I always leave feeling like I need to take a shower and go to confession.

Welcome to FR!

What a kind and glowing compliment for Jim Rob and his friends. One more person who has noticed that the punctuation of the name of this website. It means both Free Republic, and Freer E-Public.

Thank you, Jim Robinson, and John, and all your associates, and all the colleagues on FR over the years.

Function: noun
Etymology: short for Weblog
Date: 1999
: a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer ; also : the contents of such a site

Freeper’s common sense, different educations, life experiences and realistic perspectives are what drew me here at first. You can't combine them into a degree but they will carry you farther than any Ivy league education out there.

I've always wondered about who has to change the litter box. Nasty job. LOL
