Report cites Frank's proposal to cut military 25%
President-elect Barack Obama raised questions during an election campaign stop in Colorado Springs when he asserted the U.S. needs a "civilian national security force" that would be as powerful, strong and well-funded as the Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force, but few of those questions have been answered.
But now one report is proposing a possible solution for part of the equation: From where would the money for such an organization come? Democrats in Congress now are floating the idea of cutting U.S. military spending by 25 percent, or $150 billion a year, and according to a report from blogger Jay Tea, that could be used for the new "security force."
The idea to cut the military, proposed by Rep. Barney Frank, already is being opposed by Republicans.
Frank, D-Mass., recently told a newspaper the Pentagon will have to start choosing the cuts from its weapons programs because he wants to slash more than $150 billion from the estimated $607 billion in defense spending already approved for fiscal year 2008.
Sen. Roscoe Bartlett, R-Md., argued America now is fighting terror worldwide, including active wars in Afghanistan and Iran, and that has stretched the capabilities of the military already.
He warned cutting funding in such a drastic way would be irresponsible.
"You know if we don't make the right decisions about the military nothing else will matter will it? Because if we don't have a free country then you know what do these other programs matter at all? That's the number one responsibility," he said.
The blogger, however, saw the plan linked this way: "Representative Barney Frank, apparently not content with his role in wreaking havoc on the nation's financial system, has announced that he will push for a 25 percent cut in

Talk like this ought to worry STATES, like Kentucky, Tennesse & Texas...
I wonder what they’ll be “securing”. It seems unlikely that they’ll be securing our borders and even more unlikely that they’ll go overseas. That just leaves our streets which is clearly unconstitutional.
One day within the next 4 years the American people are going to be saying WTF have we done?
Maybe even Tennessee...
We need to use Alinsky tactics and stock Obama’s Security Force with neo-cons....
Makes sense.
Look for a charter that attempts to mimic the US military with the tiny removal of posse comitatus. Add to this all the worst parts of the ‘patriot’ act, and stand by for heavy rolls.
Change, you bet...
hope, not much...
yes they can, cause the electorate said they could.
The Civilian National Security Force will be all the MORE reason for citizens to buy guns. In fact, I cannot think of a better way to sell MORE guns than to keep this proposal in the limelight.
**the American people are going to be saying WTF have we done?**
Before or after they start rounding up the JEWS because they’ve finished Rounding up the REPUBLICANS!
**’civilian national security force’**
it was called the GESTAPO!
From my somewhat limited understanding of life under communism, this will probably be the foundation for putting in place and supervising the networks of citizen spies who report on each other, turn in neighbors, co-workers for any suspicious gatherings, meetings, or disloyal statements opposing the “government.”
Relax, Mr. Obama already has the civilian national defense force. The only thing he needs it to transfer the money for it. It's called ACORN. It's just a matter of expanding the activities from “mortgage fraud” and voter fraud to new endeavors in Chicago thuggery. Once the black panthers are fully trained and deployed, there won't be the need for all those nasty military people.
JOIN THE RESISTANCE
The National Security Force will be used by the newly named Freedom Party to knock on your door to take your gun after the 2nd Amendment is repealed.
“One day within the next 4 years the American people are going to be saying WTF are we going to do?”
I said this BEFORE the election and to as many friends as possible. None believed me.
I voted McCain/Palin.
Gee, if we have a civilian militia, does that mean there will be no more need for individuals to keep/bear firearms?
The State will protect all of us?
Couple that with an assault on the 2nd amendment from a revised Supreme Court and you begin to see a game plan.
Mark my words. There is no doubt in my mind that if he puts this into practice it will start the second American Civil War.
