What will be your first bellweather sign as to which way the election will go?

Posted on 10/27/2008 2:02:11 PM PDT by Osama Obama

What will be your first tipoff as to the final outcome of the election? Will it be the weather forcast a few days before the election? Will it be the reports of where voter turnout is the heaviest? How about the speed with which some of the first states will be called? What's your tell?

McCAIN already won.
Too much fake polling based on non-existant dems turning up or being registered. Add to this the PUMA’s for McCain. About time for HillBilly her/himself to endorse McCain too in order not to loose their last strow to credibility.
At the booth most Americans will play it save and vote for the regrettable reality of the known and forgo on the virtual change (never to be). Only the real clinger on or clingons will go with the OHBAHMAH.

If, on Election Night, Obama takes VA, it’s over. McCain must run the table on the remaining Bush-won battlegrounds to have a hope. Can be done, but it’s a tall order. If Republicans and conservatives want it badly enough, they’ll show up to vote. If not, we’d all better look for some painful course changes. We will NOT be the same nation after four years of Obama.

There is NO excuse for Republicans and conservatives to not vote this year.

I think McCain will win because I don’t have that yucky feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I remember NBC and CBS calling it for VA and everyone else saying it was too close to call. I don’t claim to have perfect recall however and could be wrong.

Remember that the Florida Panhandle, which is much more conservative and more heavily Republican, is in the CENTRAL Time Zone, so when the polls close everywhere else in FL, they’re open for another hour, west of the Woodruff Dam, starting West of the Appalachicola River at Port St. Joe over to Pensacola. I think those folks living there will keenly remember the media calling the election for Algore when 8 o’clock in the EASTERN Time Zone rolled around on election night, 2000, making it sound like the race was over, thus discouraging voters in the Panhandle area from going to the polls.

This is the live thread from election night in 2004; if it had happened, it would almost certainly have been documented in here:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1266984/posts

Originally, on that night, Fox News had Virginia and, get this, South Carolina too close to call (SC wasn’t called until 9:15pm ET). Some people freaked. Then NC was too close to call, and more people freaked.

It appears that some people on the thread were claiming that VA had been called for Kerry (by CNN), when Bush was up 10% in the numbers at that point. I’m not sure it was ever substantiated; it may have just been an internet rumor or CNN goofed on their map.

VA was called for Bush on CBS at ~9:18pm ET. FNC and everyone else called VA and NC at about 9:30pm.

Reading that old thread, there are many lessons for us next week. 1) Ignore the defeatists both at FR and on TV. “Conservatives” like Kristol were calling the state of the race “troublesome” for Bush before the VA and NC calls at 9:30pm. 1a) Fox News is not rooting for our side, but we knew that already. 2) Don’t believe the exit polls. 3) Don’t post a “OMG McCain/Obama just won (state)!!!!” without telling us where you heard it.

Archy - can you amplify on your comment. Are you saying that the Army will be deployed ahead of the election based on who is going to win? McCain’s ahead? Send ‘em to Detroit and Newark. Obama’s ahead? Send ‘em to ... Detroit and Newark??

BTW: This is s weird assignment, in my opinion. Doesn’t Posee Comitatus law prevent the US Army from deploying in the USA?

I don’t know how to get a general call out, but any freepers with any pull should suggest this to their community voting boards...they should hold back their voting results until the large city precincts in their states known for cheating, report their results. That way the cheating precints won’t have a clue as to how to stuff the ballots to skew the elections their way! If it leads to some interesting Mexican stand offs, so be it. That way a court or to can step in to demand all vote totals be turned in at the same time with no further vote numbers considered after such and such a time with consideration being given to mail in ballots of course!

A prescient state voting official should not even consider reporting vote totals as they come in but wait until all precincts report, then announce the totals. That way cheaters won’t know how much they can stuff the ballots until too late

If the other towns in Pa. want to tamp down on Philly cheating, they just simply need to not release their vote tallies until Philly releases theirs first. In deed, the state voting boards can tamp down the fraud by simply refusing to release the vote numbers until they are all in. It would drive the MSM crazy as they couldn’t conduct the election night coverage as it were horse race...ie.”Candidate A was running strong but he flagged in the home stretch as late returns from the Podunk precints had candidate B surging past him...there fore we predict, based on 5 per cent of the polls in that candidate b will win.”(sarcasm on)

It would put a bit of healthy uncertainty back into election day, and the fraudsters would have to go back to the drawing boards!

A couple of threads had people from CA reporting their neighbors, friends and family were stripping off the "O" stickers on their cars and yard signs in their lawns after the "Joe the Plumber" anal exam by the MSM a week or two ago......

Sorry I can't remember exactly when but I've lost all track of time because of the elections......anyhow I thought that was interesting.......

I am re-considering my original opinion as to first bellweather sign. I saw it yesterday in our Courthouse. Massive absentee voter turnout, the likes of which I’ve never seen before. I live in a very Republican conservative county, but there are lots of 0bama signs around here. Far more than for Kerry, Gore or Clinton. They are in yards, not public right of way.

People don’t fall all over themselves to keep a status quo. They show up to vote when they are energized, and demanding a change. I don’t think that bodes well, but around here, it could be that they are energized to oppose 0bama.

Do a websearch for C-smurf/CBRNE Consequence Management Response Force, or CCMRF.

From the TGOH Blog:

Posse Comitatus you say? Well, from the Wiki we learn the following:

On September 26, 2006, President Bush urged Congress to consider revising federal laws so that the U.S. military could seize control immediately in the aftermath of a natural disaster, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. These changes were repealed in their entirety in 2008.

In early 2006, the 109th Congress passed a bill containing controversial provisions that granted the President additional rights to use federal or state National Guard Troops inside the United States in emergency situations. These changes were included in the John Warner Defense Appropriation Act for Fiscal Year 2007 (H.R. 5122.ENR) These changes were repealed in their entirety in 2008.

Footnote: All changes have been repealed, and have changed back to the original state of the Insurrection Act of 1807.

Posse Comitatus you say?....All changes have been repealed, and have changed back to the original state of the Insurrection Act of 1807.

Was that operative when Pershing, Eisenhower and MacArthur were deployed against the Bonus Marchers in Washington DC?

Or when Eisenhower deployed the 101st Airborne in Little Rock in addition to Federalizing the Arkansas NG?

And those were Federal troops in downtown DC during the 1968 riots. And I'm sure I missed one or two others where Federal troops were deployed to enforce law.

So I'm not real clear as to when it applies and when it does not.
