FBI Warns of Potential Terror Attacks

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security today issued an analytical "note" to U.S. law-enforcement officials cautioning that al-Qaida terrorists have in the past expressed interest in attacking public buildings using a dozen suicide bombers each carrying 20 kilograms of explosives.

Authors with the U.S. Office of Intelligence and Analysis added that they have "no credible or specific information that terrorists are planning operations against public buildings in the United States." The FBI and DHS analysts said they were releasing the note because "it is important for local authorities and building owners and operators to be aware of potential attack tactics."

According to the note obtained by NBC News, a "recently discovered audio recording of al-Qa‘ida training sessions conducted several years ago provides instruction to potential suicide terrorists on seizing a publicly accessible building and damaging or destroying it with explosive charges." Death Threats Sent to Pollster

After releasing this morning’s numbers showing McCain ahead in Ohio and Florida, the Strategic Vision polling company received several death threats through the contact e-mail on the company’s web site.

David Johnson, the CEO of Strategic Vision, shared the messages with National Review Online.

One of the messages stated:

My goodness, your polls stinks. There are 3 polls that have Obama by double digits and only yours has Obama down. WOW!. How come your poll is the only one giving Palin high favor ratings? I think you nee dto be careful tonight when you get in your car and might want to check underneath your car. SCRAP YOUR IDIOTIC POLLS OR ELSE!

Another stated:

A poll that gave Sarah Palin and Barack Obama the same favorability rating is wrong off the bat. Be careful going outside tonight because you might not see tomorrow.

A third message stated:

Why would your presidential election poll results be so drastically different from every other reputable poll taken over the same time period? Are they that dumb or are you guys that smart? Smart guys wind up dead.

The company has contacted the FBI and appropriate authorities, Johnson said. There was, thankfully, nothing in the messages that indicated that the sender had actually sought out the location of the company or its employees. Johnson noted that while the messages came from different addresses, they all came within a short period of time, and that it was possible they were from the same person.

Johnson said he’s not fearful, but taking appropriate measures.

“It’s probably just a bunch of nut cases, but this is first time we’ve ever experienced something like this,” Johnson said. “It’s highly, highly unusual. We get messages in the vein of ‘your numbers are wrong, the other guy’s numbers are right’ all the time. But this has never happened before.”

Sources Confirm: Successor To Hizbullah Leader Nasrallah Named

Knowledgeable sources have confirmed to the London daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reports that recently surfaced in Iran that Hizbullah Shura Council chairman Hisham Safi Al-Din has been appointed successor to Hizbullah secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah.

The sources said that Safi Al-Din, the No. 2 man in the organization, holds all sensitive portfolios in it, manages its institutions and funds, and has close connections with Hizbullah’s military arm as well as with Iran.

Associates of Safi Al-Din’s family said that ‘Imad Mughniya personally oversaw his training, and a former Hizbullah official said that Al-Din had been marked as Nasrallah’s successor as early as 1994.

Lebanese MP from Hizbullah Hassan Hab Allah denied the report, calling it baseless rumor.

SoI arrest known Special Groups criminal in Aamel; tips lead MND-B Soldiers to caches in Baghdad

BAGHDAD – Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers gained control of a Special Groups criminal after members of the Sons of Iraq detained the individual Oct. 23 in the Aamel community of southern Baghdad.

Soldiers from Company A, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, MND-B, took control of the criminal at approximately 4:30 p.m. A patrol delivered the criminal to a Coalition forces base for processing.

“The SoI play a tremendous role in the security of the Rashid district,” said Maj. Dave Olson, 1st BCT Spokesman, 4th Inf. Div., MND-B. “Soldiers from the 1st ‘Raider’ Brigade are systematically moving into a tactical over watch in many of the communities and neighborhoods and continue to teach, coach, mentor and train members of the Iraqi Security Forces.”

Approximately two hours later, a tip from a local Iraqi guided Soldiers serving with Company A, 1st Bn., 22nd Inf. Regt., 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., to seize 27 copper plates used to produce explosively formed penetrators in the West Rashid district of Baghdad.

At approximately 12:10 p.m., following up on a tip provided by an Iraqi citizen, Soldiers from Company B, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, seized five 155 mm rounds filled with chemical munitions and19 empty 155 mm rounds north of Baghdad

Coalition forces hit AQI networks, detain five suspected terrorists

BAGHDAD – One wanted man and four additional suspects were detained by Coalition forces Saturday as they continued to target al-Qaeda in Iraq operatives throughout the country.

In Abu Ghraib, about 25 km west of Baghdad, Coalition forces captured a wanted man assessed to be a high-ranking member of a terrorist group associated with AQI. One additional suspect was also detained during the operation.

Coalition forces in Mosul targeted a wanted man who intelligence reports suggest is connected to the city’s AQI foreign terrorist facilitation network. Three suspected terrorists believed to be associates of the wanted man were detained during the operation for further questioning.

sometimes it seems we’ve veered off course, we are after the terrorists who do nothing but throw rubix cubes in our direction, right.
