FBI Warns of Potential Terror Attacks

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security today issued an analytical "note" to U.S. law-enforcement officials cautioning that al-Qaida terrorists have in the past expressed interest in attacking public buildings using a dozen suicide bombers each carrying 20 kilograms of explosives.

Authors with the U.S. Office of Intelligence and Analysis added that they have "no credible or specific information that terrorists are planning operations against public buildings in the United States." The FBI and DHS analysts said they were releasing the note because "it is important for local authorities and building owners and operators to be aware of potential attack tactics."

According to the note obtained by NBC News, a "recently discovered audio recording of al-Qa‘ida training sessions conducted several years ago provides instruction to potential suicide terrorists on seizing a publicly accessible building and damaging or destroying it with explosive charges." ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Shariah, as it is described on its own terms, is fundamentally and critically unlike Jewish law and any form of Christian canon or ecclesiastical law. Specifically, because neither Jewish law (halacha) nor Christian canon or ecclesiastical law obligates the Jew or Christian, respectively, to violently impose theo-political tenets in lieu of the Constitution, there is simply no basis to apply the laws of sedition to the application of Jewish law or Christian dogma within private religious or commercial contexts. While Jews and Christians may advocate and petition their government for laws that reflect their moral and theological worldview (as may Muslims or atheists), neither Jewish law nor Christian dogma permits the forceful imposition of a theocracy in lieu of representative government or the replacement of our constitution with theocratic legislation.

The contrast between Jewish law and Shariah makes this point vividly.”

CF Soldiers return fire, kill 2 SG criminals in Oubaidy
Multi-National Division-Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD – U.S. Soldiers from 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Multi-National Division – Baghdad, returned fire and killed two Special Groups criminals after they fired upon Joint Security Station Oubaidy, Oct. 14.

Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment immediately took action after SG criminals fired upon the station. No Coalition Force Soldeirs were killed or injured in the failed attack on JSS Oubaidy.

“Information gathered indicates that this failed attack was conducted by a SG cell from Sadr City,” said Maj. Joey Sullinger, a spokesperson for 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light). “Unprovoked attacks will not be tolerated and will be met with swift and appropriate force.”

MND-B Soldiers seize weapons caches north of Baghdad
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD – A tip led Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers to a weapons cache north of Baghdad Oct. 16.

Acting on a tip from a local shaykh, Soldiers serving with Company A, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, seized six cans of 14.5 mm ammunition, a rocket propelled grenade launcher, an RPG rocket, a 155 mm projectile round, an Iraqi hand grenade, a bag of sulfur and a bag of sodium carbonate near Joint Security Station Tarmiyah, north of Baghdad, at approximately 10:30 a.m.

An explosive ordnance team took the munitions to Camp Taji for disposal.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Barcelona, 16 Oct. (AKI) - Spanish police have arrested at least 18 terror suspects of Moroccan origin with alleged links to Al-Qaeda in the provinces of Catalonia, Andalucia and Madrid on Thursday, reported Spanish media.

The suspects helped some of the suspects in the deadly bombings of Madrid commuters in March 2004 to escape and were allegedly in charge of recruiting militants and financing Islamist activities, prosecutors allege.

The raids were carried out in the northeastern town of Santa Coloma de Gramanet where eight suspects were nabbed. The other arrests took place in the towns of Badalona near Barcelona, Cerdanyola del Valles and Villanova i la Geltru among others.”

U.S., Canadian Yemenites Demand ICC Trial For Yemenite Cleric

Over 100 U.S. and Canadian citizens of Yemenite origin have sent letters to U.S. congressmen and Canadian MPs demanding that they pressure Yemen to extradite Yemenite cleric Abd Al-Majid Al-Zindani, head of Imam University, which is close to Al-Qaeda, to the International Criminal Court, and to have him tried for international terrorism crimes.

The letter criticized the Yemen regime for alleged ties to Al-Qaeda, and called on the U.S. and Canada to continue with the war on terror.

BREAKING NEWS (10:20 a.m.): Explosion at McCamy Law Firm

There was an explosion at the McCamy Law Firm near downtown Dalton at approximately 10 this morning resulting in multiple injuries. According to witnesses, the windows of the building were blown out and at least one person had his clothes burned off. He was being taken to the hospital.

Officials have one person in custody and are questioning him. Schools in the area are on lockdown.

U. of I. warns parents of Halloween threat

The University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign has sent an e-mail to some parents of Illinois students regarding a threat to shoot someone on Halloween night.

The e-mail, which was sent from the university’s Parent Programs Office and can be read here, asks for the public’s help in getting information about a note containing the threat that was found Oct. 5 in a men’s restroom at the university Undergraduate Library.

According to the e-mail, it had been sent Thursday to all faculty, staff and students at the university.

While the threat specifically mentions areas on or near the Urbana-Champaign campus, police have formed a multi-jurisdictional task force and are being assisted by the FBI.

Report: Student made up campus attack

A Muslim student at Elmhurst College who said she was physically assaulted by a masked gunman on the campus last week has been charged with filing a false police report, WGN-AM 720 reported this afternoon.

Elmhurst police said the 19-year-old sophomore, Safia Z. Jilani of Oak Brook, had been processed, posted bond and been released, WGN reported.

Elmhurst Police Chief Steve Neubauer said Jilani did not say why she had made up the story, according to WGN.

The woman said she was hit with a gun in a bathroom in the college’s science center Thursday night last week, authorities said. Anti-Muslim graffiti was written on the wall, authorities said, similar to a threat written on the same student’s locker the week before that said: “Die Muslims, Rid us of your filth.”

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Investigators say a 71-year-old man suspected of setting off an explosion at a Dalton law office has died. The suspect’s body is still in the building.

Four other people were injured in the explosion that blew out the windows at McCamy, Phillips, Tuggle & Fordham around 10 a.m. today.”
