John McCain announced that he will suspend his presidential campaign on Thursday to return to Washington to help with bailout negotiations. He urged his opponent Barack Obama to do the same.
The Arizona senator also asked the Presidential Debate Commission to postpone Fridays scheduled debate with Obama so that he can work on the financial crisis bailout plan now on Capitol Hill.
America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen, McCain said.
Thats nice, but, I don’t think thats the problem.
McCain running scared....please
I dont think this is scarey for someone who lived in a he## hole for 5 years.....how would you ever come to that stupid conclusion? I have never seen John McCain back down from a fight.
I’m waiting for the first commentator to say this was calculated to distract people from watching Palin’s interview with The Perky One.
and you have no idea what a statesman does......McCain is acting like a statesman.....
“I just worry that most Americans are going to see this as panicing under pressure.”
Worry if you wish, but I think it is unjustified to do so, IMHO.
Lindsey Graham on Fox now....”We don’t need a debate right now, we need a solution”. “We’ve been begging this guy to debate us for the past 6 months”
Ok, McPal team got a devastating and much needed sound bite ..question is WILL they USE IT!!
How does postponing the debate help The One?
They’d better get to work! I just contacted my Rep and Sens with the following email:
I am opposed to the proposed government bailout of these failing financial institutions through the use of taxpayer dollars. The answer to this dilemma is not to punish the honest, hard-working taxpayers, but, rather to find some alternative that directly involves seeking restitution from all invovled in bad business practices. Those high up in the corporate ladder, those who sit in boardrooms, those who reaped financial windfall, and, yes, those who passed egregiously short-sighted legislation that legalized all this should be made to pony up well in advance of the taxpayers who a) did things the right way, b) did not seek to earn money through sleight-of-hand financing and legislation and c) invested trust in America’s legislators and financial systems to run a fair game. All of you have let the American people down, and now you want to come running to our pocketbooks first! I say, “No.” It is time you all learn to live within your means, just as we have had to do here at the our home. And, just like at our home, when a mistake is made, those responsible must correct it themselves. I exhort you to find some other solution, start acting responsibly and please, take your hand out of my wallet!
Sincerely,
You know McCain hit it out of the park the way the hysteria is going around here from some of these people. I cannot quit laughing as they turn into pretzels trying to say how bad it is for McCain. My favorite is that he is afraid to debate ZERO — give me a break!
Thank you.
I sense another 3:00 AM add coming. Maybe Obama will call McCain a coward for not debating.
Montana got paid to be a quarterback.
McCain gets paid to lead in the Senate.
Barry is in it for himself.
There's the difference.
not to worry the trolls are being found out on this thread and hope-full banned
as for making the obama cult see facts and common sense then don’t bother they’re a cult and only see their messiah .
obama can do more than one thing,,er lets see obama you have not been a senator for long
you know nothing
you hardly ever take a position and instead vote present too many times
where have you been for months with debates
yes running away and letting the media cover for you
All I can infer is that W is going to give a pretty scary presser tonight. And he told McCain in advance.
Bullshit!
John McCain was tortured for more than five years. Do you think an empty suit like Obama scares him?
McCain is great at debating.
This thread could use some Troll-B-Gone.
