Finland - 'Many May Be Dead' In School Shooting

Many people may be dead following a shooting at a high school in Finland, police have said.

The individual with the gun is still inside the vocational college in Kauhajoki, 120 miles from Helsinki, and students are being evacuated.

The police told the Finnish News Agency (STT) on Tuesday that it was possible that a number of people had died in a vocational school shooting in Kauhajoki in southern Ostrobothnia.

The shooter remained in one of the school buildings at about midday, the police added.

Several videos have been discovered on You Tube in which a young man who says his home town is Kauhajoki is pictured shooting pistols at a shooting range. The approximately one-and-a half minute videos were added to You Tube five days ago.”

On another note I don’t see how something like this is possible, considering the difficulty the average Finnish citizen has owing firearms.

If I recall correctly, Finland has more of a gun and hunting culture than any other European nation save Switzerland. I think they even have Swiss-style mandatory military service with home storage of their standard-issue rifles, so this guy might be well armed.

I hate hearing about these types of attacks. I hope there are less injuries than were first feared. You wish you could do something to help, but all you can do is pray and hope for the best.
