JimRob & John Robinson - GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER - or the Nut Roots will take down Free Republic

This is what the Nut Roots are doing to WGN-AM in Chicago:

Obama vs. WGN-AM
The station is coming under attack for offering airtime to controversial author.

Chicago radio station WGN-AM is again coming under attack from the presidential campaign of Sen. Barack Obama for offering airtime to a controversial author. It is the second time in recent weeks the station has been the target of an "Obama Action Wire" alert to supporters of the Illinois Democrat.

Monday night's target was David Freddoso, who the campaign said was scheduled to be on the station from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Chicago time.

Obama mobilizes rapid response on Web
Campaign targets media when attacks aired By John McCormick | Chicago Tribune reporter

Much of Barack Obama's political success can be traced to a database listing contact information for millions of people, a tool that has proved invaluable in raising record sums of money and organizing a national volunteer network.

Now Obama's presidential campaign is increasingly using the list to beat back media messages it does not like, calling on supporters to flood radio and television stations when those opposed to him run anti-Obama ads or appear on talk shows.

It did so as recently as Monday night, when it orchestrated a massive stream of complaints on the phone lines of Tribune Co.-owned WGN-AM in Chicago when the radio station hosted author David Freddoso, who has written a controversial book about the Illinois Democrat.

If you guys in the Robinson family don't get your act together, and get it together soon, then the Nut Roots are going to take down this site, and take it down hard, for the next two months.

You need to do several things to the Free Republic infrastructure and have them in place no later than about October 1; among them:

1) Mirror Free Republic to at least two other physical locations around the country - one on the east coast [Washington/NYC/Atlanta], and the other maybe more central [Texas has some large colo's with backbone connectivity].

Right now, I am seeing only two IP resolutions for "www.freerepublic.com" - 209.147.64.200 & 209.147.64.201 - and traceroutes have them [predictably] on the same physical network [I imagine that they are sitting right next to one another in the same server rack]:

[n - 2] mg-1.a01.mlpsca01.us.da.verio.net
[n - 1] 128.242.105.82
[n]     209.147.64.200
2) Turn off as much of the relational structure at Free Republic as is possible, and return to a strictly flat file structure for as much of the content at Free Republic as is possible.

The current relational structure is hopelessly broken, and the negotiations between the caching frontend and the relational backend are breaking down multiple times a day.

Again: THE RELATION STRUCTURE MUST BE DISCARDED - THIS IS IMPERATIVE.

[Furthermore, it is vastly easier to propagate a flat file structure to multiple physical sites around the country; trying to propagate a relational structure, in real time, with relatively limited funds for bandwidth, is essentially impossible.]

3) As things really heat up in October & November, I'd consider banning [temporarily] all non-political content, and instituting an aggressive policy of putting on probation the accounts of users who post lengthy, inane, unfocused, meandering, off-topic soliloquies - concentrating instead on promoting the work of people [like Kristinn] who are doing original investigative reporting and who are presenting their results in simple, straightforward, declarative arguments.

Along those lines, I'd move aggressively to upgrade the quality of the moderators who are policing the content at Free Republic - the quality of the moderation is utterly unpredictable from hour to hour - one hour there will seem to be a moderator who "gets it", and the next hour, it's as if that moderator's shift suddenly ended, and we have an utterly clueless moderator in charge of things.

I don't care if you're worried about hurting Granny's feelings if you tell her that she can't moderate for the next two months - we have to get some moderators in here who are up-to-date on current events and who understand the difference between original investigative reporting [regarding e.g. DEM/Obama treason & Bolshevik/Gramscian subterfuge] and the kinds of "Pray for my Kitty who is having feline leukemia chemotherapy tomorrow morning" threads which seem to waste so much CPU time & bandwidth at this site.

I’m in for the monthly thing. Out of sight, out of mind. Then, when I download my financial data it’s all there.

But as you say, it’s whatever makes you comfortable. And in addition to my monthly, I donated a little something a month or two ago. It doesn’t hurt to keep the pump primed...

What I read into it is that the "freeping" of polls is almost always a waste of time and a distraction, often pulling us into "Have you stopped beating your wife" sites by --- who else?

I'm not sure how this could be. It often takes no more than 10 seconds to click on a poll link, vote, then return to FR.

I look on it as not allowing leftists the sole voice on the internet -- and just possibly discouraging a few or painting a different picture for the MSM, as leftists tend to think the whole world adores Obama. You can sense their shock when even online polls don't turn out as they "should" or when conservatives make pro-McCain/Palin comments (how dare they!). I just don't see how Freeping a poll could possibly do anything but help.

Well my source is a VP of IT for a major financial institution on Wall Street.

He or she is having big doubts about Obama and the divisive campaign being run by Obamas radicals.

I think you have really pegged what the Obama campaign is all about and that is intimidation.

Obama should be a wake up call to all Americans but I am afraid that patriotism is having to take a back seat to Bitch Slapping Rap and selfish me to politics.

What you mean is Chicago machine politics. That's what we're seeing. And when Obama told McCain "You ain't seen nothing yet" or words to that effect, he meant what he said.

Everything that's happened has been at his behest. It's his political meme. And it's going to get worse, especially when the GOP polls as strong as it has.

It wasn’t meant to be PC by any means and it definitely wasn’t because of over sensitivity. It was the truth for myself and several others I know. I’m saying that the content of the posts should be the qualification for being considered a sleeper, not the sign up date.

“RDBs max out at thousands of transactions per second. “

wha? if by thousands you mean nearly two hundred thousand of them and the atomic transaction done by a rdb is going to get far more work done than on a flat file structure.

US people don't need YOU to issue orders! I know I certainly don't! So rather than respond to foaming at the mouth hysteria I'll post about the joys of owning a pet rock or my fallen arches if want to and I won't seek your approval or permission at any point. Got it?
Now that we’re clear on that.....Let me tell you about my kitty, also known as “Kitty”....

I've noticed a problem with FR over the past week. When I click on a link, I get a blank page. I have to reload to get the page content. The underlying cause of that behavior is likely filling the error.log files at a rapid pace.

>>Bump Bill, you are right. Some of us remember the HSW attacks and the Islamic attacks.<<

What was the book that documented the Clinton attacks on FR? It was a thrill to read it, especially since I knew most of the FReeper names being mentioned.

EVERY FReeper should read it. To know what we would be looking forward to with an Obama *shudder* presidency.

Yes, that's been happening a lot with me too. I didn't know if it was a problem on my end or not.

I'm not sure I understand this. I know lib sites have an equivalent to Freeping polls, but do you mean something else?

I'll be honest, what I know about computers and the Internet could be written on the back of a match book and still have room for the Constitution.

However, I do have close sources that tell me this is possible.

I am still trying to figure out how that porn site ...err thats another matter.

Just as I said there are ways to manipulate polls.

The other day on CNN they ran a poll on (I forget now but I think it was on Palin)and with in a couple of minutes that the poll was up the anti Palin votes were something like 29,000 or so No to 1,700 Yes.

I don't doubt for one minute that these polls can be manipulated by real smart but common sense dumb, radical muck diving godless liberal nerds.

Just my lowly opinion constantly metamorphosing out here in the desert.

You people can pray for your d*mned kitties on your own time.

Um, this is my own time.

Last time I looked Jim Robinson didn't mind having prayer threads on this forum, especially since he himself has been the recipient of thousands of prayer posts and he can attest to the power of prayer on this forum.

Frankly I have no idea what your point is here. Maybe if you prayed for more bandwidth instead of going into a panic over the Obamaniacs, then maybe you'd accomplish some good here.

This forum has survived quite nicely for a decade without your leadership. And there are hundreds of Freepers who sincerely appreciate that this is a place where you can not only discuss political issues, but where we can pray for each other, pray for our country and PRAY FOR OUR KITTIES!

Here, here. How about all the "new" people who apparently have signed up years ago who are now posting and come out only during national election time. Honestly, I don't know half these people who are suddenly appearing who have a sign up date of years ago. New people, or casual posters are fine - and welcome - but I too question whether or not we have a whole boatload of sleeper trolls around here.

I have an idea! Let's ban everyone who became members before 2004-10-09. /s ;)
