WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.
According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.
"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.
Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

Well I hope I’m right, too! :^)
But I agree that “media static” is a big obstacle to getting this info the proper hearing it deserves..... and also several other possible factors, from likely bald-faced lies about it from the Obama campaign to the need for much more substantiation than simply one article.
That’s why I put a question mark about the possible effect on the election, and I said it “should” be over but of course Democrats can survive all sorts of outrageous behavior.
Still, this has the potential to be a blockbuster piece of ammo in any of the debates, assuming it can be nailed down firmly before then.

I'm not saying this story is false, however let's remind ourselves of the report...dang I can't recall where it originated but I believe Quinn and Rose on WPGB Pittsburgh ran it...that there reports a damning story about Obama is going to be released before the election. The word is the right wing is supposed to bite on it, but eventually it will turn out to be false and the right will be left with egg on it's face and BHO will get a push.
Just saying we have to be VERY carefull about EVERYTHING reported from here on in.

It would be a great bombshell for McCain to drop in a debate when Iraq comes up. THAT would really blow things open, because if he said it during a live debate, it would be out there for all to see.

Why is this only coming out now? Because before the Iraqis thought Obama was a sure thing as the next president, and now its not looking that way?Palin's fault.

Yes my first reaction was that the left will be furious but, of course, this is the kind of activity which will give everybody something to hate.
If the story sticks, there is no ideological refuge for Obama.

I definitely share the concern..... but I do believe that Taheri (the author of this article) is a VERY serious guy with serious connections. I’ve read quite a few of his articles and he is way beyond the typical journalist. Not saying it couldn’t all crumble or blow up in our faces, but I’d put him above all but a handful of journalists around. I will be astonished if he would go into print with this without great confidence that it will withstand the furious attacks of the left and Democrat journalists, etc.
Yes, I know we can’t hang all of our hopes on Taheri, but I’m certain he’s far above most journalism today.

Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops... This idiot doesn't give a damn about the Constitution's separation of powers, and how the foreign policy and commander-in-chief roles are reserved for the Executive Branch and NOT Congress.

Be sure to get it to Drudge as well, where the MSM can’t ignore it.

Definitely, that’s one of the things I’ve had in mind all along, I guess I should have explained myself better. IF this can be reasonably well confirmed before the debates, it will be a devastating point to work in somewhere when debating candidate experience and judgment, Iraq policy, etc.

I’ve seen him speak, and he’s very, very good. I don’t doubt Prisoner6’s concern, except I don’t think this is that story. I think that story is more likely tied to Obama’s past, whether his birth certificate or something else.
To: Allegra
Coming from YOU, Allegra, I feel much reassured that I am not too far out on a limb here! :^)
Yes, I would not get so excited yet if it were just some random journalist writing this, but I do have very high regard for Taheri and I just don’t think he would be reckless with a story of this kind of importance.
Still, confirmation and more details are needed.

I always think this idiot is DONE because frankly he is a bad guy and posseses no trait that makes him fit to be President. As long as he is anywhere near McCain, this jackass has a legit shot.
The Manchurian Muslim candidate gets more bizzare everyday.
