WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.
According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.
"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.
Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

Treason!
Happily for Obama, Lehman’s Chapter 11 fills the airwaves instead.
Still, some of the fence-sitters who are paying attention may decide for the better from this buried news.
Whoops! Obama is denying it.
“This is not the Barack I knew.”
McCain’s first priority is national security. How often has he said—I’d rather lose an election than lose a war. If McCain knows that Little Barry on his trip to summer camp did something to undermine our war efforts and the security of our military, he will be sure this story is known to the American people.

Sure is!! Hope this gets well substantiated and exposed widely. It's an uphill battle, always, but the fact that it's already been picked up by Rush, FOX News, etc. means that millions now know about it and there should be more pressure building. Too bad it couldn't have hit on a slow news day/week when the MSM might feel they had to report on it.....
Why wasn't Michele Obama at the 9-11 Remembrance? I thought that was another misstep by the BO campaign.
This borders on treason
It’s quite simple. Obama didn’t want an agreement that would tie his hands and take troop withdrawal off the board.
“Isnt this beyond The Logan Act if its about an ongoing war? Why not treason?”
Because delaying a troop draw down isn’t really giving “aid and comfort to our enemies.” Unlike, say, John Kerry hobnobbing with the Viet Cong in Paris.
Enemy combatant to Gitmo on the double. This is treason to undermine the US.
What are Obama’s exact words in the denial? What exactly is he denying?
As others have pointed out, Obama used very Clinton-esque nuance in the article. He only “asked” why they were not “prepared” to wait till after Election Day. He can deny that he put any pressure on them.
MSNBC also carried it:June 16, 2008
Obama also told Zebari, he said, that Congress should be involved in any negotiations regarding a Status of Forces agreement with Iraq. He suggested it may be better to wait until the next administration to negotiate such an agreement.

ATTN: McCAIN CAMPAIGN READ THIS ONE!!!
Maybe some Hilary voters now for McCain have knowledge. If so, there’s nothing worse than a Hilary woman’s scorn.
P{ost 150. Remembering “t’wit”.
Yes, so that much he did openly and publicly — did he help to push the SOF agreement out of the summer time frame that the Bush admin. was working on? In that case he has already seriously interfered with vital ongoing negotiations.
It’s hard to believe, knowing what we know about him, that he did not pressure Iraqi officials or General Petraeus, et al, when he was there in July — let’s remember that this egomaniacal Obamessiah thought at that point he was a sure thing for the presidency, and he would have wanted to “arrange” matters to his liking for the next 6 - 12 months.
But we need more than just this one article by Taheri, for sure.......
Dan Senor is married to Campbell Brown. They must have interesting conversations.
SHEPHERD SMITH JUST MENTIONED. Camp Obama FLATLY DENIED to Fox News Major Garrett. Fox frontin’ for Obama now????? (”just a bone of contention, that’s all” Major Garrett)
