Woman beats 7-foot-3 sex offender with baseball bat

On the day that fliers announced a registered sex offender had moved into a Puyallup neighborhood, a woman welcomed him with an aluminum baseball bat.

"I kept swingin' and swingin' and swingin," court documents say Tammy Gibson told police, who arrested her in Cottonwood Mobile Home Park.

Gibson has been charged with second-degree assault and felony harassment

She shouldn’t have done this. You don’t just find someone and beat the crap out of him for no reason, even if he was a prior inmate.

She lied about this guy touching her children, admitting she made that up only after she was brought into the station.

She had no justification. That said, I believe sexual offenders ought to have their privates totally removed.

I would not want a sex offender in my neighborhood. But this will give ammunition to those who want to grant sex offenders annonimity and you from knowing who the offenders are in your area.

I thought the guy who was running a trailer park for sex offenders had a good idea. Give them their own communities, free of kids.

I'm not defending pervs but no one here can say that he was engaged in any illegal activity when this woman decided to go yard on him.

For what? The article doesn't state whether or not her kids were actually abused, just that she heard about this guy in her neighborhood and promptly knocked on his door, accused him of it and proceeded to beat the crap out of him.

Why wouldn't they? The article leads me to think that he isn't the only nutjob in the neighborhood. It doesn't read as though the guy actually did anything wrong in this case. It reads like she found out that he lived there, got a wild hair up her butt, knocked on his door and got medieval on him. As far as I know you can't go around taking baseball bats to people just because you don't like them.

I’m a proponent of public execution as a deterrent to crime. Do away with the “painless” lethal injection execution. March the convicted out on the courthouse square, put the rope around his neck, and drop the floor out from under him. Televise it, and let the other criminals see what will happen when they get caught.
