The President and First Lady were in France this morning and attended the morning service at the American Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Paris.

The First Lady visited the Marie Antoinette Exhibit at The Grand Palais.

Later in the day AF1 flew into Heathrow where Marine One took them on what is about a 10 minute flight to Windsor Castle where they landed on the East Lawn where they had tea with the Queen and Prince Philip. According to FNC George W Bush is only the second President to have been afforded the honour of an invite to Windsor Castle the other being Ronald Reagan.

After tea they toured the St. George's Hall at Windsor Castle with the Queen and Prince Philip.

They then flew back to London to the US Ambassador official residence where they will be spending the night before attending a social dinner at 10 Downing Street, amongst the guests tonight are the British Foreign Secretary and Rupert Murdoch.

The menu tonight was:-
Starter - Salmon
Main Course - Roast Beef
Dessert - Summer Fruits Trifle

The President is due to have a breakfast meeting with Tony Blair tomorrow followed by a meeting with the Prime Minister and he will be flying to Belfast for his last venue on what is being billed as the President's farewell trip to Europe.

Pray for President Bush -- Day 2832

Freeper prayers needed for my mom. My 92 year old mom fell today and fractured her arm. She will meet with an orthopedics doc tomorrow to get it evaluated. She relies on a cane and this is her right arm, so its going to be tough to not be able to use it. Any prayers for her would be much appreciated.

Thanks, my family is very fortunate to have her this long and in relatively good health. She has a real fighting spirit and has come through a hip and knee replacement. fractured shoulder and I’m hoping this will mend well too.

To which families do all those Coats of Arms on the ceiling of St. George’s Hall belong?

That apricot suit is beautiful, as well. It looks like a slubbed silk fabric.

Queen Elizabeth was crowned the year I was born, but over the years I've learned a lot about the courage of her family, especially their decision to stay in London during the blitz. They could well have removed themselves to the safety of Balmoral, or any other of their homes, but chose to stay, since other Londoners had to endure it, so why shouldn't they? Elizabeth even drove jeeps for the British military, and looked quite cute in her uniform!

She was quite young when she had to assume the throne upon her father's death, and she seems to have done very well. I absolutely enjoyed the movie The Queen, and it was, surprisingly, quite fair to her.

I’ll be curious to learn your opinion of the movie, since you know much more about the events contained in it than we.

Of interest, that huge suit of armor in the background in the last photo of post #11 belonged to Henry VIII.

To bad the Queen’s head got in the way for a clean shot.

Prayers on their way.

Tell your Mom, that back when my Mom fractured her pelvis (she was 86 at the time) I talked to my sports medicine doctor. He told me to tell her that 90 year olds can still improve their muscle tone, so getting better was do-able.

She also fell prior to that incident, in 2004, when her neighbor put up a Kerry sign on the fence that went up the side of a communal road in the section that was in front of her house (she lives at the opening of the road and her neighbor lived up the hill). She and her neighbor had an argument about it, the neighbor called the police on an 85 yr old...sheeesh...and my Mom told the police to "take me away then, because my husband didn't fly 35 missions over Germany in WWII and my son didn't go to Vietnam as a 101st Airborne Ranger with a Bronze Star to have the name of a traitor to this country put right up in front of my house!"

Sorry to those that have read this before...

Point being Merlinator...to tell Mom that she CAN recover---she's gotta want to. ALSO: VERY IMPORTANT... You have to monitor her progress, and constantly remind her what she did today, that she couldn't do yesterday. When you're in the thick of it, you don't see your progress, and it all just seems an endlessly frustrating string of days that you can't do what you used to.

If you help her to set goals (i.e. in three days, I'll be able to pick up ____ and do ____ with my left hand) and someone reminds you of your progress to meet those goals, and fawns over you when you do....YOU GET BETTER.

She needs you now...she needs a reliable, but honest "cheerleader."

Yes, this handsome couple make us proud on a daily basis!

I'm sorry Queen Mother...I still have a personal issue with white shoes and handbag...especially white shoes of the Naturalizer variety ;-) I like the way Laura wears tan shoes that go with everything, go unnoticed, and appear to just be an extension of her leg (color wise). It probably helps when you're packing for a long trip, too.

Thanks Sungs, yes, I also remember some of those early on, but, as you, believe they were completely blown out of context by an ever slobbering media for negative reactions to our President. No, I was referring to stories about his opinion of her. Doesn’t matter since as with most stories like this it was probably never true to begin with. Damn, I’m going to miss him and Laura :-( !
