The President and First Lady were in France this morning and attended the morning service at the American Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Paris.

The First Lady visited the Marie Antoinette Exhibit at The Grand Palais.

Later in the day AF1 flew into Heathrow where Marine One took them on what is about a 10 minute flight to Windsor Castle where they landed on the East Lawn where they had tea with the Queen and Prince Philip. According to FNC George W Bush is only the second President to have been afforded the honour of an invite to Windsor Castle the other being Ronald Reagan.

After tea they toured the St. George's Hall at Windsor Castle with the Queen and Prince Philip.

They then flew back to London to the US Ambassador official residence where they will be spending the night before attending a social dinner at 10 Downing Street, amongst the guests tonight are the British Foreign Secretary and Rupert Murdoch.

The menu tonight was:-
Starter - Salmon
Main Course - Roast Beef
Dessert - Summer Fruits Trifle

The President is due to have a breakfast meeting with Tony Blair tomorrow followed by a meeting with the Prime Minister and he will be flying to Belfast for his last venue on what is being billed as the President's farewell trip to Europe.

Pray for President Bush -- Day 2832

I was only thinking that today with such things as we have seen his last SOTU speech the last Memorial Day of his Presidency and soon to be the last summer of his Presidency shortly followed by Veteran's Day and then Christmas.

These months are going to rush by and there will be times of sadness when we see the Presidency coming to an end but tempered by that he will soon be getting that time of rest he so dearly deserves.

I suppose it is part of her outfit :o) or maybe it contained a gift that she gave the Bush's I believe Laura is holding something in her hand after the visit maybe that was given to her by Queen.

Just curious, Snugs, I seem to remember right after the Queen’s visit to the United States reading that the President did not like her! Wonder if you have heard that, and if so what might be behind that. I cannot imagine him saying that....just doesn’t sound like him.

I am not certain how much time William and Harry got at the castle as young boys but certainly Andrew and Edward did I remember seeing a TV program that Prince Andrew presented when he tells stories of driving a toy car through the corridors in the castle and playing hide and seek behind the furniture. Also playing tricks on his mother when she was entertaining.

Also there is TV footage of fire at Windsor castle and Prince Andrew being one of the people co-ordinating the rescue of the precious artifacts that the people of Windsor pitched in with to assist. I believe Andrew personally saved many items that day.

The love the story of the Queen on VE Day where she left the balcony and incognito joined the crowds in front of the palace.

If I remember there was a lot of stupid stories flying around including that the Queen was not happy with the President due to some protocol mishaps. I think many were just exaggerations of maybe some minor irritations and opportunist media people trying to make a story out of something that was a non story from the start.

If anything I think she has been rather amused at a couple of the slip ups that the President has made even if at the time the smile may have seemed a little false but that is probably due a to life time of training not to show your feelings.

I feel today there seemed a genuine warmness and the fact he was invited to Windsor indicated that it is more than just a cordial relationship. She could have easily have not invited him to the Castle and people would have thought very little about him just visiting London and not seeing her as she was not in residence.

Looking at this info I found out this info which I was not aware apart from Georgia.

“””St George is patron saint not only of England but also of Aragon, Catalonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Palestine and Portugal amongst others, although he is celebrated on different days.””””

snugs, thank you for this absolutely wonderful Dose!
I agree with you......looking at the pictures of President Bush and Laura with the Queen, it does seem like they were relaxed and friendly.
