I hate to hear of this news. May he RIP.
I will have a difficult time forgetting it was Russert who played a major role in the railroading of Scooter Libby.
To: Blood of Tyrants
Tim Russert was one of the few intellectually honest liberals who would ask hard questions of Rats. I will agree with that. I have always thought he leaned left but seemed honest and as fair as he thought he could be.
I respected him for asking tough questions to dems and republicans. He'll be missed.
Prayers for his family.

WOW! How sad and tragic.
My condolences to his family and coworkers.
Sad coincidence: A very good friend of mine recently died of a sudden heart attack while he was jogging. He was ~60, and in very good physical condition.

Yeah, definitely a shame. I must be confusing Tim without someone else who wrote a book about their Dad (not sure who at the moment).
Solemn Father's Day this Sunday.

Glad Im not the only one wondering about the Clintons. Some may consider this train of thought inappropriate for this thread. However, I think I'm just voicing the unspoken fears of many. Tim Russert's father is still alive, for God's sake. It's very suspicious when you think about it.
To: SE Mom
Tim was a tough and hardworking newsman. He was always well-informed and thorough in his interviews. And he was as gregarious off the set as he was prepared on it. Most important, Tim was a proud son and father, and Laura and I offer our deepest sympathies to his wife Maureen, his son Luke, and the entire Russert family. We will keep them in our prayers.

You have your opinion and I have mine. I fought the communist in Vietnam. I have seen what COMMUNISTS do to those who do not agree with them. Have you ever seen the chief of some village strung up on posts, cut limb to limb?? His guts hanging out?? Probably not. That IS COMMUNISM. Communist have a grand history of rape and murder. If you want communists running the country, then you have the problem not me. I don't cry when communists and enemies of this Republic kick the bucket.

I just can’t believe it. Tim is gone....
yeah, I would go after him sometimes for biased questions etc., but he was one of the best ones. I think he genuinely did try to be fair.
But more than that, the man loved politics....he just was there so excited every day in everything he did, even the smallest piece of news.
Just insane. Wow.

There were times when Russert approached fair and balanced.Yeah, he wasn't a snide, snotty, sarcastic, vengeful, bitchy, sniping, whiney, wimpy, pompous, weasel like a lot of media libs. (Did I leave anything out?) He did seem like a decent guy that you could just disagree with as opposed to some of the others that you would like to jump into the TV and strangle.

Amidst all the honoring of Tim Russert (on all of the cable channels), the people making the case for how “fair” and “balanced” Tim was neglect to note that Tim was the founder and creator of MSNBC which is as close to “Dem-TV” as you can find (outside of PBS). If Tim’s anchoring of Meet The Press is his main achievement, his memory should also be tied to MSNBC, Kieth Olbermann and Chrissy “I feel my leg tingling” Matthews — certainly the proof of leftist bias in news media today.
That said, RIP Mr. Russert.

Horrible news. Although he could be politically left, he really seemed like one of the good guys. Prayers to his family.

Sean Hannity knew Russert a lot better than you did and describes him quite differently.

They would be best to hire from outside rather than tap that den of iniquity.
