Tim Russert, NBC journalist and political heavyweight host of "Meet the Press," has died after collapsing at NBC's Washington news bureau, a source said. He was 58 years old.
I was watching MSNBC until Olbermann came on- now I’m listening to Cavuto and Karl Rove- much nicer.
Olbermann doesn’t even belong on the same screen.
Rove saying Russert had old-fashioned values, decent, loved his country and his family- a patriot.
I’m afraid I must disagree with you. He was Catholic, yes, but I always question how a Catholic can be a Democrat, with their stand on abortion and homosexual marriage and such. I didn’t think he was as fair as some here think. I found some of his questioning of Democrats as not nearly as tough as Repubs.
And on Meet the Press, he would always put the conservative on first and then the Liberal second, which meant that the liberal would get the last word without rebuttal. It is a common media trick to put the opinion you want to be the one that sticks in the public’s mind last as that is the one that is the most memorable.
His passing is very sad for his family and my prayers go out to them.
His body won’t be cold til Dan Abrahms, Chris Matthews, David Gregory and the Vilest of the Vile, Keith Olberman are FIGHTING over his job!!!
I’ve always admired the deep love, respect and admiration he had for Big Russ. Poor guy must be devastated. I believe Tim was his only son.
Glad he got to see his son Luke graduate from B.C.
self ping for later
I noticed that part about Italy also. I’m not a medical person but could it have been caused by a deep vein thrombosis from the flight the day before?
What a shame. They were a close family.
He could speak a language understandable to people outside the beltway while being a part of “it”. A rare commodity. Sad. RIP.
The reason I liked Tim Russert was the way he respected and looked up to his father. He loved his father. When he spoke of him, he was always gleaming with honor, love and pride.
Was getting my WH post ready at same time yours was posted and didn’t see it. Sorry about the duplicate.
My Thots.........
At MSNBC, Russert was a true heavyweight in a sea of lightweights.
There is no one at MSNBC who can replace him. And yes, he was a lefty.
Wow, it’s a shock he died. You tend to think, or at least I do, that nowadays medicine has advanced so far that people survive their first heart attack, especially people like Tim Russert who have access to the best of everything, 24/7.
But it’s just not true. Most don’t survive their first heart attack. Take care of yourself, people. And RIP, Tim Russert.
Wow. Much too young. Prayers for his family as they get through this loss.
RIP Mr. Russert.
Amen.
And for you and yours.
I hear so often about people who say that if they'd had their heart attack twenty years ago they wouldn't have made it. I didn't realize how bad it still is for some people. My heart goes out to your family.
The thought of any of them on a Sunday morning triggers my vomit reflex.
Prayers for his family and friends. He will be missed. As biased as he was, he wasn’t as bad as the next guy.
My guess is, they are already fighting for his job... jackals do such things.
