In an obvious attempt to be ignored for a while, Tom Hanks with no fanfare, news release or hoopla, late tonight put up a video on his MySpace page endorsing Illinois Sen. Barack Obama for president.
Had it come on, say, a Monday morning, the endorsement by the popular and widely-respected Hanks would have caused seismic shifts on those rock shelves that underlie Hollywood and promise to slide the place into the ocean someday.
Thanks to The Times' dauntless Tina Daunt, The Ticket, however, is right on top of this major international political story. "BEWARE," says the headline on Hanks' video, "Celebrity Endorsement."
"I'm Tom Hanks," Tom Hanks says directly into the camera in what looks like someone's den, "And I want Barack Obama to be the next president of our country. As an official celebrity, I know my endorsement has just made your mind up for you."
He continues in a straightfaced, tongue-in-cheek manner to seriously endorse the freshman senator. Hanks acknowledges all the candidates -- and some of their relatives, associates and supporters -- have made gaffes in recent weeks.
But he says he reads history sometimes and cites the groundbreaking peaceful turnover of power in 1797 from George Washington to John Adams as a major turning point in history. And says the same sort of corner can be turned by the election of the country's first African American president, a member of a race once officially considered only three-fifths of a person here.
He especially praises Obama's character and vision, integrity and ability...

Wow, that does it! Now that I know Tom Hanks is endorsing him, I’m changing my vote to Barack Obama!
Endorsing barack mcgovern is the most patriotic thing Tom Hanks has done since making Private Ryan. It may actually help mcgovern to get more money which could help him get the rat nomination. Now that is patriotism!
Okay, in fairness, I've never seen the movie, and I've never read the book [nor will I ever see the movie nor will I ever read the book], but my layman's impression [from watching the controversy on the sidelines] was that the book/movie alleged that Jesus was "Ridin' Dirty" [to use a little Jeremiah Wright lingo] with Mary Magdalene, resulting in a race of superhuman creatures which had walked the earth in secrecy for 2000 years [until now].
And if my understanding of the basic plot is correct, and if you think that that doesn't amount to "anti-Christian propaganda", then you and I have reached a semantic impasse.
Horiffically ignorant of Tom to say this. He has no idea of how the 3/5 rule was designed to limit the power of racist democRATs in congress, and to support the blacks who were under the evil thumb of the rat war machine... the KKK.
Tom.... watch this and get a clue!

, he followed up with a bomb, Charlie Wilson's War.
Charlie Wilson's War wasn't a bomb. Not an overwhelming success, but still quite profitable. It cost $75 million and grossed $113 million -- a tidy 150% return on investment.
. One hit in 8 years I consider a has-been.
One hit in 8 years? Huh? In the last eight years, in addition to Da Vinci Code, Hanks has made Catch Me if You Can ($350 mil), Polar Express ($300 mil), Terminal ($200 mil), Cast Away (total flop @ $429 mil), and Road to Perdition ($180 mil). The guy's not making very many movies, but it's not because he's bombed at the box office.
LOL! I’m going to have to remember that one.
Your understanding is incorrect.
The proposition is that they were indeed married, (your offensive description to the contrary notwithstanding); for if they were not married, a royal bloodline could not be established as the historical/theatrical script proposed. I, as most citizens of our self-reliant Republic, could care less for royal bloodlines; but 2000 years ago those claims mattered.
As for "a race of superhuman creatures", that sounds odd since what made Christ exceptional was not his physical attributes that we all pass onto our own offspring, but his level of spiritual superiority which was unique to him.
1 hit in 8 years? I may not like his politics, but that’s ridiculous.
This is just US grosses:
Cast Away: 233 million
Road to Perdition: 104 million
Catch Me If You Can: 164 million
Polar Express: 179 million
Da Vinci: 217 million
That’s a bulletproof recent track record.
My first thought was “Stupid is as stupid does”
Why do movie stars think we care who they vote for?
"Tard" refers to the ping list members and not to the subject of the thread!

It's just WORDS, right?
Stupid is as stupid does.
I googled "Obama Gump" and got this:
Run! Obubba! Run!
IIRC, the three-fifths rule applied to slaves, but not to blacks specifically.
