VIDEO: Maine College Republicans have posted a video showing the desecration of our American flag at the University of Maine, Farmington, by an 'art' student. Vet restrained from picking flags up off the ground.
Outrageous.
I would have been arrested. No way I could have stood there and watched our Flag be walked on. The look on that vets face moved me to tears.
In order to exercise my right to stop such an action, I am now going to pick up the flag, and since it is now dirty and desecrated, I am going to dispose of it as directed by US law and custom.
If you attempt to physically stop me from doing this, I will exercise my right to physical self defense as I have been instructed to do while a member of the US military. I will meet your force with force, and it will be your responsibility if you are injured in any way, as I expect you well may be.
If, on the other hand, you or any person you direct, and/or any person including you or anyone else acting under color of legal authority attempts to arrest me, I will submit quietly to that arrest as I am required to do by law.
I will then have my attorney vigorously defend me from those criminal charges in the required court of law. I clearly expect that I would be acquitted by at least one person in a jury of 12, and that's all it takes to prevent a conviction.
Upon that verdict of “not guilty,” a verdict of “not proven” or decision of any legal authority to nol pros this case, I will then litigate for extensive legal damages to me and my civil rights as is clearly enumerated in the fourth and fourteenth amendments to the Constitution and other applicable laws.
These are very serious matters and I would ask for very significant damages from you personally, your underlings personally, the University and the State of Maine for each and every such violation.
Now, you have a decision to make. Do you allow me to exercise my civil rights,,, or do you try to stop me and incur serious legal and possibly physical consequences for trying to do so?”
Then go pick up the flag and dispose of it by private burning as prescribed.

Outside of Portland, Eugene, and Ashland the rest of the state is GOP country. I suggest you hit the Crater Lake Highway and then head over to the Bend area. Great areas and great people.
Well this is nothing new. Shameful and pretty disgusting. Maine welcomes Somali Muslims who are probably enjoying this spectacle.
But what we really need to discuss further is the desecration of churches and the cross committed by the newly formed terror statelet JIHADIS of Kosovo—A PLAN PUT INTO FORCE BY CLINTON WHICH THE THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS ACCEPTED AND CONDONED.
I am disgusted that people who identify themselves as Americans think it’s acceptable to treat our flag with disrespect. I do not, however, support laws that make such behavior criminal. I do not see behavior as speech, protected by the 1st Amendment; I see flags as property, protected by the 4th & 5th Amendments. Public disgrace for disgraceful behavior needs to be more prevalent.

I only wish the Veteran had disobeyed the officer and started picking up the flags anyway.
If I were there, I would have done it and let them arrest me. This is a such a disgusting outrage — not to mention a PUBLICLY FUNDED outrage paid for with tax dollars.

He is studying to become an artist, I think when he realizes the only job for which he is qualified is dishwasher, he will realize he’s been cheated.

Monday got standing O’s in every major league park that year, and the Dodgers got him in a trade the next year.
Note the student on crutches who takes the time to walk around the flags while three able-bodied pieces of trash stand on one (toward the end). I think the person who took the video should have gotten close-ups of their faces so their fellow students would all know them for the garbage they are.

Below is my note to the ever charming Mr. Kennedy, President of the University of Maine. The email is titled The Art of Hate.
Dear Mr. Kennedy,
I am not sure how civil I can be in this email, but I will try.
I saw the video of the flag desecration at your school. You can’t measure this Navy veteran’s anger and outrage at your “artist’s” inflammatory poor taste. Now, recognizing that he/she/it has first amendment right’s too, my challenge to you is how far you would go in allowing outrageous and offensive words and images to be used in the name of the Art of Hate.
If I wanted to display lampshades made from human skin as an artistic statement, aside from any phony Department of Health issues, I presume you would be just as comfortable with that as desecration of the American flag. After all it’s just skin. Skin is just as common as cloth, since the American flag is just cloth. Besides, they are both renewable resources.
If I wanted to distribute pendants with body parts of victims of 9/11, I trust you would be comfortable with that too. They would be very tiny parts, so nobody should really get upset. That’s an artistic statement. It’s all up to how each individual wants to interpret it. So, I’m sure you would not have any problem with that either. In a way, the body parts are neutral. This artist could just as easily be screaming about the evils of America and that these pendants are symbolic of the price America must pay. Or, this artist could be saying the pendants are symbolic of the evils of terrorism and they are an intimate reminder of every person’s responsibility to fight evil wherever we find it.
If I wanted to take a picture of you and decide that my artistic license extends to giving you a new identity, would you allow that? If I decide your face is the perfect iconic image of American Evil and devote myself ardently to this new found cause, would you allow that? After all, it’s just an image, it’s just art. In art, including the Art of Hate, you don’t get to decide “who” you are, the artist does. That’s what they call artistic control. So, the artist in me says your face, your body is SO emblematic of American Evil, that I am going to make and sell life-size cut-outs, posters of all sizes, I will mass produce all sorts of renderings to make your image the cause celebre to be used in every anti-American protest around the world. Islamists, Marxists, Socialists, Pan-Africans, it doesn’t matter. Pissed off Germans, Italians, Russians, Chinese, it doesn’t matter. No anti-American demonstration will be complete without burning you in effigy. Think of the possibilities, your image will become as famous as Che Guevara’s.
Thus, Mr. Kennedy, the Art of Hate, and your permissive, intellectually sloppy defense of the desecration of the American flag. I trust you would be consistent in your defense of the freedom of expression for the Art of Hate; otherwise, Mr. Kennedy, you are just another clueless hypocrite.
