Accused Saddam Agent Says He Met With Hillary at White House By IRA STOLL, STAFF REPORTER OF THE SUN | March 27, 2008
A Michigan man facing federal criminal charges of illegally working for Saddam Hussein's Iraqi Intelligence Service says he met with Hillary Clinton at the White House in May 1996.
In a 1997 interview with this reporter, Muthanna Hanooti said that at the meeting, Mrs. Clinton was "very receptive" to his request for an easing of the American sanctions on Iraq that were in place at the time. He said Mrs. Clinton "passed a message to the State Department" about the need to implement the oil-for-food deal, which was intended to allow Saddam to sell billions of dollars' worth of oil to pay for food for Iraqi citizens.
Back in 1997, a spokesman for the first lady referred inquiries about the meeting to the National Security Council. At the time, a spokesman for the National Security Council, Eric Rubin, responded by saying that President Clinton, not the first lady, sets foreign policy.
Asked whether Senator Clinton recalls the meeting or whether the presidential campaign had any further comment on the meeting in light of Mr. Hanooti's indictment, the Clinton presidential campaign yesterday offered no formal response.

Somehow, I feel that ANYTHING that touches the Clintons or vice-versa gets some skimming of the cream off the top.
Those 2 are total kleptos and have to have their hands into anything and everything.
I really hope that this summer’s trial of Hillary and the rest of the months of the campaign will put a final fork into all 3 of them.
Chelsea is obviously being groomed for future runs at public office, and I certainly hope there are many recording copies of her snippy remarks a couple days ago at Butler College.

Muthanna Al-Hanooti is a Michigan charity worker charged with being an Iraqi spy and setting up a meeting for three United States lawmakers in Iraq at the request of Saddam Hussein’s regime in 2002. Hanooti, while working for Life for Relief and Development, a charity providing humanitarian aid to Iraq’s, was said to have been paid for setting up the meeting for the lawmakers with two million barrels of oil.

The indictment against Muthanna Hanooti said Iraq’s foreign intelligence service funneled $34,000 through the Islamic charity Life for Relief and Development to pay delegation expenses.
She said she ran everything there, and EVERYTHING MEANS EVERYTHING.

Prosecutors said Al-Hanooti was responsible for monitoring Congress for the Iraqi Intelligence Service. From 1999 to 2002, he allegedly provided Saddam’s government with a list of U.S. lawmakers he believed favored lifting economic sanctions against Iraq.
Al-Hanooti assigned his oil allocation to Laru Ltd., a company based in Cyprus, the indictment alleges. The indictment does not say what compensation he allegedly received, although it does detail tens of thousands of dollars in other payments Al-Hanooti allegedly received from the Iraqi government.

Mr. Hanooti is suspected of having gone to work for the Iraqis in 1999 or 2000, specifically by publicizing efforts in the United States to lift international economic sanctions on Iraq. As part of that effort, the indictment said, he organized the October 2002 visit and accompanied the three lawmakers to Iraq.
In December 2002, the indictment said, the Iraqi government secretly arranged to allocate two million barrels of oil to Mr. Hanooti; he then turned over the rights to the oil to a company incorporated in Cyprus for an amount of money that was not identified in the court papers.
The most telling moment of the first lady’s news conference—which has yet to be reported—came in response to a question as to why, she has met repeatedly over the years with other groups that had openly supported Hamas, Hezbollah and other foreign terrorist organizations.
“I think what you’re referring to,” she said, “is that over the course of the last seven years as part of the administration’s efforts to open lines of communication and build bridges with Muslim Americans and Muslim leaders from all over the world, many, many people have been invited to the White House. I have been part of some of those events. I have hosted some of them. I would imagine that some of the people who were invited were members of organizations with whom I would have had serious disagreements about some of the things those organizations have said. . . . So I think that if you want to talk about what the White House has tried to do, what the administration has tried to do to try to promote a framework for peace, it certainly included lines of communication to many different groups and many different individuals.”
Well, let’s look at the results of that effort to produce a “framework for peace,” which, according to White House records and published reports, began in early 1996, when Mrs. Clinton started hosting and inviting the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), the American Muslim Council (AMC) and the American Muslim Alliance (AMA).
