Dear Jim..OK, the GOP now has its candidate. McCain isn't the first choice of the majority of us on FR, and even now, there are spirited, yet for the most part, civil exchanges on the threads as to whether or not some will support the GOP nominee. One of the more unfortunate, and unpleasant events on FR was the mass banishment and/or leaving of a great many Freepers who were supporters of Rudy Guliani for the nomination. I'm posting this to see if you'd be open to the idea of inviting them to return, and see how others might feel about this.

Like it or not McCain was selected. Whimpering, whining and excuse making will not change that. You either play on the team or not.

If John McAmnesty is the best the GOP could do, count me out.

I will fight like hell for all CONSERVATIVE GOP candidates down-stream, but Mr. Amnesty will not get a dime or a minute of my time.

He does not represent my views on most important topics and is wobbly on two of the most important:

1. Abortion (Supports Embryonic Stem Cell Research)
2. WOT (Wants to close GITMO and give Terrorists access to our legal system).

He is totally lacking in leadership qualities, and is plain wrong on most issues.

Many posters on this thread saw only the smiley face masks. Characteristic of the preponderance of ilk departed is their tendency to wear that mask most of the time, and to casual observers.

To the targets of their attack, namely and frequently pro-life fighters like the Terri's Listers, they peeled back their masks and we saw the real them. We saw often enough a vicious side the casual observer would scarcely believe. This thread is already replete with examples such as the RA and T'wit conflict. Many would be horrified to see how we were attacked from the shadows, not just in posts, pulled posts, pulled threads, but also FReepmail. After attacks, the smiley faces went back on with those painted smiles of injured innocence. To massacre a cliche, these wolverines in the cloak of a lamb, sought more destruction to the pillars of this site than a legion of trolls.

No amnesty for illegals. No parole for recidivists. No RINOplasties. We need not invite back our tormentors and then hand them the rope.

My opinion doesn't count when it comes to un-banning someone, but if it was up to me, I'd like to see '|Paperdoll' (and a few others) come back.

I’m afraid Peach was getting rather unpleasant. She was ganged up on, but I don’t think that excuses her behavior. But I think the mod overreacted. She should have just been given a few weeks off.

Peach had been pro-abortion for a long time, she was trying to say that Reagan was pro-abortion. Jim warned her that she was going to be banned if she continued and she did. The only "overreaction" was on the part of Peach's disbelief that conservatives don't like liberalism regardless of party affiliation.
