An open letter to Jim Robinson: Consider a general amnesty for all the banned Rudy supporters....
o

Posted on 03/05/2008 1:11:46 PM PST by ken5050

Dear Jim..OK, the GOP now has its candidate. McCain isn't the first choice of the majority of us on FR, and even now, there are spirited, yet for the most part, civil exchanges on the threads as to whether or not some will support the GOP nominee. One of the more unfortunate, and unpleasant events on FR was the mass banishment and/or leaving of a great many Freepers who were supporters of Rudy Guliani for the nomination. I'm posting this to see if you'd be open to the idea of inviting them to return, and see how others might feel about this.

Are you saying that money means we sacrifice our principles?

No, it means that a number of good long-time ~paying~ freepers were pushed out the door. Frankly, I miss 'em. Discussions were livelier and more interesting. After the Rudy purges and the crevo purges we lost a lot of smart and thoughtful people.

Thanks, you made my day!

Right, I guess the hotly contested primary had nothing to do with how long that FReepathon took. I know most of my usual FR contribution went to my candidate.

“Didn’t they go off and form their own little group?

Wideawakes, or something?”

Let’s not offend any current FReepers. (and they did)

And lest anyone pretend otherwise, let's not forget that BEFORE any of them were banned they had already formed an anti-FReeper site. They made it clear that they didn't want to be here. The fact that WAnkerville isn't working out the way they wanted it to isn't Jim's fault.

Assuming WA (I don't know what WAankerville is) is an anti-FReeper site, none of the people I'm thinking of are there.

Exactly! I made four contributions to Thompson, more than I should have. I don't regret it, but it did lighten my wallet.

18,430 posts? Whoa! Is that a record?

Ha, 18,430 posts is just getting started

The Longest Thread is just a small part of the place called The Hobbit Hole!

Been taking significantly longer for over a year now, maybe two.

I say make them take an oath--like the Rebs had to do after the Civil War.

Then they have to admit they were dead wrong about Rudy.

Oh, and force them to eat an entire raw crow.

Then they can come back.

Some have come back. Some can still post but chose not too. Others post on both forums..As I recall, regretfully we had FReepers who begged to have their accts closed because their buddies were banned.

We lost some colorful, intelligent and interesting FReepers.

It's not my call tho..

Well that may true. Shame they weren’t smart enough not to expose themselves. Liberals have a tendency to see themselves as too smart to be seen through.
