One of Texas’ largest newspaper, The Dallas Morning News, has endorsed Mike Huckabee over presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain, saying that even though “it is mathematically impossible” for Huckabee to capture the nomination, he is “the GOP’s future.”
The newspaper’s editors wrote in Sunday’s editions that as a result of his social and religious conservatism, the former Arkasnas governor is on “the wrong side of abortion, gay rights and other key issues” but Huckabee still is committed to helping the poor and middle class, is “good on the environment” and not bound by ideological litmus tests.

I disagree strongly with them, in that I think Huck is on “the RIGHT side of abortion, gay rights and other key issues". Are they idiots? Or are they spinning? To me, Huck is closer to Reagan than McClame.

Besides the fact that the Huckster isn’t McCain, he has also made conservative pledges that we can hold him to. McCain, hasn’t even changed his position on amnesty, or CFR. I’m glad that the Huckster hasn’t dropped out and I hope he keeps McCain from getting the 1191 delegates he needs to win the nomination outright.
Not odd. They know that McCain is going to be the GOP nominee, so they don’t want to explain why they supported him in the primaries when they are endorsing Obama in the general election. If Huckabee had been the apparent GOP nominee, they would have endorsed McCain.

Make no mistake, they are endorsing Huckabee for one reason only. To cause dissension in the GOP. They know that the Dems are chewing each other apart and could have a civil war at the Convention, so they are hoping to cause some problems. Fortunately, Huckabee is not strong enough of a candidate to cause any harm. This will backfire and keep a weakened Huckabee in the race - which will provide McCain with visible victory declarations after each and ever primary.
Of course. That said, both of these clowns are but a faint shadow of Ronaldus Maximus.
They endorsed Huck back in December and reprinting it today.

Did Juan Mexicain just say that the Huckster was the future of the GOP? If that’s the case then we might be in bigger trouble then I thought. From what I can tell the only thing the Huckster has right is on Abortion, Gay rights, and Marriage.
Or maybe they looked at Huckabee’s real record in Arkansas rather than swallowing the pack of store-bought lies and distortions from the Club for Growth that most folks around here guzzled like Jim Jones’ Kool-Aid.

Why has Free Republic so quickly pulled Huckabee's name out of "Popular Keywords" list especially since he's the closest thing by a (few thousand) country mile(s) to a conservative in this crazy race?

That’s a loaded question. There are about a half-dozen ways to count delegates, and several involve estimates that generate different results from different sources.
The most optimistic number is the current McCain “hard total” of only 308 delegates:

In defense of Jim Robinson, there was a period of several days last week when very few Huckabee articles were posted. If by some miracle we hold McCain below 50 percent in Texas—thereby causing the at-large delegates to be distributed proportionally—maybe he’ll put it back up.
