President George W. Bush's quick acceptance of the efforts of the Albanians in Kosovo to change the borders of Serbia will also be viewed in history as an appeasement that did not work.

World War II actually began when Adolf Hitler marched a mere 14,500 troops into the Rhineland on March 7, 1936, in violation of the Treaty of Versailles that ended World War I and the Locarno Treaty which was signed in 1925 that included the "Rhineland Pact" between Germany, France, Belgium, Britain and Italy. The Rhineland Pact's main provision was an agreement among Germany, France and Belgium end border raids, with Britain and Italy agreeing to guarantee the borders in the event of aggression by any of the other states. ... Kosovo is for Serbia a land somewhat similar to what Pennsylvania is to Americans. Kosovo is the cradle of Serbian liberty and the center of their Serbian culture. There are hundreds of structures, churches, monuments, monasteries, that attest to that history. What has happened in Kosovo, with America's help, would be similar to a large group of Islamic fundamentalists, whose hero and mentor is Osama Bin Laden, moving into Pennsylvania over the next 50 years, as Albanians did in Kosovo in the 20th Century, and then voting to become an Independent State with membership in the United Nations, as they burned down the Christian churches, Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell while driving out and seizing the property of the remaining Christians, Jews and non-Churched homeowners.

I am curious if anyone knows the percentage of Serbs who actually attend church every week? As a casual observer, it is difficult, actually impossible, to reconcile the actions of people such as Mladic and Karadzic with Christianity. If these men read the Bible and believe it, they must be reading a different book than the one I have read. How can you reconcile Srebrenica with Christianity? I would be more understanding if the country of Serbia officially apologized for that, but to my knowledge, they haven’t. I find that whenever I ask questions such as this, too often the response is, well, “the Muslims did this or the Muslims did that.” From what I have read of the Bible, what unbelievers choose to do does not take away the responsibility of the Christ follower to follow the laws of appropriate behavior as defined in the Bible or for that matter, accountability for one’s actions.

You were reasonably confused, however, because earlier, he had placed the Rhineland, Czechoslovakia, and Poland all in 1938 (Czechoslovakia was the only one that was arguably invaded in that year. The Rhineland, which he falsely called French territory was in 1936; the actual impingement on French territory was not until 1940, and should have been third, not first, on the list.)

To put things in timeline order for those who were confused by the errors in the main article.

1936 - German troops move into German territory in the Rhineland. The area was demilitarized by the Versailles and Locarno treaties. (To put the treaties in context, imagine the US government agreeing to a treaty to not station US troops in Texas or within 50 miles of the Red River)

1938 - Austria is invaded and merged into Germany.

1938 (October) - German troops reach an agreement to peacefully move into the Sudentenland to protect the largely Germanic population of the area.

1939 (March) - German troop invade the remainder of Czechoslovakia.

1939 (September)- German troops invade Poland.

1940 (April) - Germany invades Norway and Denmark.

1940 (May) Germany invades the low countries and France.

I can not believe you rely on those reporters. I have seen a few demos and nothing is reported accurate...drunks, goons etc... Yes, there are the younger generation there along with the older generation. Look at the demos here in the states, look at the make up of the demos. At least in Serbia they riot for a damn good reason! They had their land taken away from them overnight to a group of internationaly recognized terrorist group led by war criminals that were wanted for questioning by the Hague.
