Didn’t Nancy rely on some looney astrolger, too?

I respect Nancy much, too much to criticize her on this one. However, this is another step on the way to providing some ‘conservative’ cover for McCain—who WILL likely be the nominee by next Tuesday—unless conservatives really rally behind Romney.

Nancy Reagan was never a conservative in the sense that her husband was. She never pretended to be. She had her own views, which she mostly kept to herself; some critical ones were quite opposite the president’s, i.e., ‘life.’

Her preference for McCain is understandable but has nothing to do with McCain/Romney and their conservative credentials or lack of same. Her seeming preference for McCain is that she knows him and doesn’t know Romney. McCain came to DC in the Reagans early White House years. He was then one of the few early conservatives in Congress who supported her husband. Naturally she is going to prefer him over someone who wasn’t on the scene in those days.

Neither is Romney my idea of a conservative. However, unlike McCain, he has not spent the past decade inexplicably stabbling conservatives in the back at every opportunity, which leaves him as my preferred option at the moment.

Ronald Reagan loved her so I won’t disparage her but it’s obvious to me that with Ronaldus Magnus gone she taking political advice from that ballet dancing son of hers.

Sadly, Nancy is (and probably always was) very liberal on a lot of issues.

One thing I will give her is that she had the dignity and respect for her husband not to become really aggressive about her positions.

Also, he obviously had the intestinal fortitude not to adopt his wife’s attitudes. Another thing to like.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion about Romney. I wonder if you watched the debate last night? If you did, it was clear that McCain is the liar. Not Romney. Say what you will about his faith...your one issue “abortion” is the reason a lot of people run away from conservatives. You cannot vote based on one issue. Would it be nice to have one candidate who truly represented all that is conservative...sure. But we don’t have that this time. Doubt we ever will. Your bias towards Mormons is blinding you to McCain’s weaknesses. Just my opinion...

I like Newt because he is closest to the ideals of R.R. but is too late to enter into the election this year.

Why would you say McClain only has one term in him?

It could be because McCain supports federal funding for ESCR. Yikes. She could assist in bringing an end to the Reagan coalition and all it entails forever. God bless her anyway, even if she is wrong.

I highly doubt it’s her that leaked the info., frankly. It was most likely just McCain’s campaign who called Drudge...

I love ya, Nancy, but senility seems to be taking hold of your judgement lately.

Shame on you.
