:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Still in Control

Pervez Musharraf was calm, confident and—despite a flurry of rumors—not about to announce his resignation. Instead, the Pakistani president's "concession" to his troubled nation was an announcement that he would allow Britain's Scotland Yard to help local law enforcement agencies with their investigation into last week's assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

Speaking in a nationally televised address two hours after Pakistan's election commission announced the postponement of the ballot to Feb. 18, six weeks later than had been scheduled, Musharraf was notably deferential in his remarks about Bhutto, often invoking her "martyrdom" and extolling her liberal democratic credentials. "May she go to heaven," he said. "I stand for the same things she said." Read More

Thanks RDTF.

Yep, Oorang got it already.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1947527/posts?page=185#185

Some further articles I read mentioned that the suspect had 2 grenades. He also apparently had grenades and pipe bombs at his residence.

http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&tab=wn&ned=us&q=grenade+%2B+hospital&btnG=Search+News

1 or 2 — grenades in a hospital is a big NO-NO.

Still wondering what Grenade Man’s name is.

01-06-2008

PARROTTSVILLE-Almost 200 sticks of dynamite along with blasting caps and several bags of ammonium nitrate were stolen Thursday from three storage buildings on Carpenter Road off Highway 321.

According to reports by Dep. David Parton and Chief Detective Robert Caldwell, the dynamite, blasting caps and bags of ammounium nitrate were stolen from Elmo Greer and Sons Construction Company, which has been contracted to construct the new Highway 321 project.

Chief Detective Caldwell said the ATF sent three agents to the area yesterday to investigate the crime and the FBI along with TBI agents have been notified. Neither estimates regarding the value of the stolen dynamite, nor suspects involved in the crime have been reported at present time.

Foreign youths held after subway attack in Munich (Germany)
Jan 6, 2008

Munich - Police detained three teenage asylum seekers after an attack on two Germans in a Munich subway station early Sunday amid a debate about youth crime in Germany.

The trio was part of a group that kicked and punched their 22- year-old victims, requiring them to undergo hospital treatment, the Bavarian capital's chief police officer, Wilhelm Schmidbauer, said. A 17-year-old Iraqi and two Palestinians aged 16 were caught on surveillance cameras and picked up a short time later, Schmidbauer said, adding that police were looking for two other attackers. The detained youths, who denied any involvement in the attacks, entered Germany illegally in September 2007 and submitted an application for asylum, the police chief said.

Pilot reports model rocket near airliner (Boston)
January 6, 2008

The pilot of a jet carrying passengers to Logan International Airport reported yesterday that a model rocket appeared to have been fired toward his craft, a Federal Aviation Administration official said.

The pilot of AirWisconsin flight 180A saw what appeared to be a spark or firework in front of the plane around 12:26 p.m., after the jet had descended to 500 feet and was preparing to land, said FAA spokeswoman Holly Baker. The model rocket did not hit the aircraft, Baker said, and the 40-passenger plane, which had three crew members, landed safely.

A State Police spokesman said the plane was flying over the Winthrop-Revere area at the time and the rocket was believed to have been fired from the vicinity of the Belle Isle Marsh Reservation. The state reservation is about a half-mile northeast of two of the airport's runways. State Police are investigating the incident, Benson said.

The agreement also requires the company to cooperate in further investigations by providing names of others who may have been involved, Attorney General Greg Stumbo said.”

“Police website hacked again
Nothing crucial hit, Durham force says”

By DON PEAT, SUN MEDIA

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “The Durham Regional police website was offline for the second time in the past year after some Internet pranksters hacked it.

On Thursday night hackers that appear to call themselves the KingHackTeam got onto the page and replaced the main content that usually lists media releases and information about the force with some digital graffiti.

Along with the defacing credit, the phrase “Owned SysTem By Scorpion_King!! Turkish Defacers!” appeared.

Insp. Eva Reti said the website, drps.ca, is the force’s external website and not connected to any crucial department computer systems.”

IMHO there are far too many easy access / negligent amounts of traffic areas surrounding many airports permitting this type of event to easily occur.
