‘It doesn’t require a lot of common sense to know that a movie based on a book written by a rabid religion hater is going to be anti-Christian.’

Actually, given the well documented history of Hollywood taking ANY story and changing it completely from what the book it was based on into something completely and utterly different has been discussed in this forum a million times over the years. So making such a judgement without viewing it first is an error.

Second, I heard the same thing about Rock and Roll for decades, primarily from ‘religious organizations’ since I was a kid in the 1960’s.

They did say the same thing about Star Wars. They said the same thing about ET, for goodness sake. And the Potter books and movies.

Ironically, those that don’t believe in God took the same approach you seem to be following about Gibson’s movie ‘Passion of the Christ’. And they take it to the same extreme every Christmas as it relates to Manger scenes on public property.

Beat me to it. But she sure is a looker. That covers a lot of faults in an actress.

I don’t understand your point. This is a new movie. This is a forum where people discuss things like new moviesw. I haven’t seen anyone proposing the government should censor this movie.

Same here. I read them for a Young Adult Lit class. I got a real surprise. The end of the first book began to tilt anti-Christian, and by the third, I could barely read it. His writing even got bad. He wanted to hate the church more than write a good story. Those angels made me want to gag and the entire story in the third book was boring as well as disgusting.

What’s the difference if a movie has an atheist message? Or a Christian message? Lets all get off of our high horses and use our heads. If you don’t like what’s on TV, turn the channel....

I think they are just letting people know that it has an anti-Christian message so people can make the decision for themselves. Additionally Donohue notes that the film doesn't really have an anti-Christian message but the books do. So parents who have faith should be lulled into buying the books for the kids after seeing the relatively harmless movie.

It's just a warning so you can make a more informed choice.

"You don’t like a movie, don’t go see it. Stop being such a busy body, mind your business and allow me to live my life as long as I’m allowing you to live yours."

?

On this site we often chat up new films, you are free to live your life the way you see fit, go see this film if you like...I however will not as I do not care for Anti-Christian messages in my films. It feels too much like propaganda to me. Take care.

The author is an evangelistic athiest, and has admitted as much blatantly. That’s all I need to know. We’ll not be supporting this film.

> Not a Kevin Smith fan I take it? DON’T see Clerks 2! (I’m a Kevin Smith fan so I love them all, but I understand it is not in everyone’s taste.)

Eh, I liked Clerks a lot. Chasing Amy was OK, but the last 1/3 with the whining is unwatchable. Jay and Silent Bob was kind of fun, though not for the faint of ear. The rest I can leave on the shelf without worrying too much about missing much :-) As always, your mileage may vary.

I probably went to the same masses as Kevin Smith a couple of times when I was growing up — my best friend lived in Red Bank NJ and I would often go to church with her on Sunday.

‘with all due respect, one doesn’t need to experience something they think is trash just to form the opinion it is trash.’

Then how does one come to the conclusion before hand what is, and what is not ‘trash’?

I have never understood what's so great about Nicole Kidman. She leaves me cold. And hasn't done a decent flick since TO DIE FOR...

Hopefully, you’ll pardon us as we exercise our free speech and try to persuade Hollyweird to rethink the messages it puts forth in its propaganda, and enlist support where we can find it.

Kidman missed the “equally yoked” verse for sure prior to her marriage to the incarnate symbol of Scientology, Tom Cruise so I wouldn’t look to her for deep spiritual insight without having more reasons to think of her as devout.

This boycott may work for a different reason. My 13 year old daughter has received three emails from different circles of friends to not see this movie because it is anti-Christian. These are kids that she respects. And she has passed it on. Her friends are the type that see the Harry Potter and Narnia movies. They will not see the movie and are telling people why.

When my daughter doesn't go, that is at least two tickets and usually four tickets not sold.

“To Die For” was really funny.

I think Nicole Kidman is beautiful. It’s a shame she keeps doing movies I don’t want to see.

My husband thinks she is pretty hot. But she’s not here, and I am, and I get to reap the benefits! :-)

The Bible makes clear of what is evil, immoral and I trust God’s word and trust Him to tell me. That is how we know what is wrong or right. Not by experiencing for ourselves, but rather trusting Christ to tell us and follow his warnings.

Do you have a personal relationship with Christ?

You have a pretty strong reaction to see someone else’s opinion expressed at a website as making them a busy body or interfering with your life.

Christians are admonished to seek out the good and avoid the bad:

1 Thessalonians 5

19Do not put out the Spirit’s fire; 20do not treat prophecies with contempt. 21Test everything. Hold on to the good. 22Avoid every kind of evil.
