Yes, but hasn’t this been taken to extremes? I mean, there was a lot of dustup about the Harry Potter books and films, and some have even condemned Oz materials because of the “good” witches in them.
When the answer is ambiguous, I like to go in and see for myself so I’m informed about the thing beyond hearsay. You’re entitled to your approach, however.
