Gov. Spitzer's boast last week that power plants will soon have to pay for the right to emit carbon dioxide is just the latest sign of his unseemly obeisance to over-the-top environmentalism.
Spitzer told Congress how New York has joined 10 northeastern states in a Kyoto-style project called the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), meant to combat global warming.
In 2009, these states will force power plants to buy CO2 "allowances," which will be traded on the open market.
Plants will have to get one credit for each ton of CO2 they emit. The supply of credits, to start, will be capped at 64 million - the average annual power-plant emissions in New York from 2002 to 2004. The figure will then drop slightly each year, for a 10 percent cut by 2019.
The plan's flaw is its goal: It's designed to boost electricity costs - and even force some plants to close.

Does Hillary think this is a good idea?

Go for it, Spitzer. After the crash, real estate will be dirt cheap and the population will be in no mood to elect a liberal for decades.
As far as I know, there is no provision for a recall of a Governor in NY state.
Lots of them.
I hope Hillary is asked in the next debate if she supports Spitzer’s energy plan.
I'd love to see a lawsuit challenge of this. Get Al Gore up on the stand. It would be wonderful to see him sweat and stammer.
Now that is really unfortunate.Maybe it’s better that the folks in New York get a full dose of Spitzer now, might convince them to never again put one of these weasels in a position of authority.
A guy like that probably thinks he can get away with imposing a CO2 scam on everyone in NY.
If he were a tad younger he'd been pushing Laetrile as a surefire cure for cancer.
Likewise, if want to cool your home, the “home CO2 Climate Control System” will remove heat trapping CO2 and allow more heat energy to escape.
Sale price is just $4500.00 plus a $75.00 monthly maintenance agreement.**
Here the best part. Once we have the CO2 cap and trade in place the power companies will pay me $5000.00 per unit built (not Sold he he ha ha). of course the power companies will just pass that cost right back you in rate increases.

I have possessed for five years the regulation of the weather and the distribution of the seasons. The sun has listened to my dictates, and passed from tropic to tropic by my direction; the clouds at my call have poured their waters, and the Nile has overflowed at my command. I have restrained the rage of the dog-star, and mitigated the fervours of the crab. The winds alone, of all the elemental powers, have hitherto refused my authority, and multitudes have perished by equinoctial tempests which I found myself unable to prohibit or restrain. I have administered this great office with exact justice, and made to the different nations of the earth an impartial dividend of rain and sunshine. What must have been the misery of half the globe if I had limited the clouds to particular regions, or confined the sun to either side of the equator?
the whole co2/ global warming thing is a fraud my friend.
LMAO!!!
Bend over and grab your ankles, residents of New York.
You get what you elected, you get what you deserve.
I read a couple of years ago (NY Post, IIRC) that Schumer and Spitzer are fiercely competetive, each envisioning himself as the first Jewish President. I kid you not.
The amazing thing is...no one is building power stations at all. The only nuclear plant applications currently in the system....are for TVA in Bama...which the plan will be to build two new ones within seven years.
I can see a point within five years where huge electrical problems exist....and governors are fired because of their incompetence...and some mad rush starts up to build coal-plants at any cost.
