Fire officials are now stating that the Orange County Santiago fire was purposely set and there is speculation that other fires may have also been deliberate. See Interactive Map
Fire officials found three separate “points of origin,” all near the intersection of Silverado Canyon Road and Santiago Canyon Road. Two were on one side of the road, and the third was on the other. “Whoever did this knew what they were doing,” said Kris Concepcion, a fire authority battalion chief. Also, the fire traveled 3 miles in its first 20 minutes when it was ignited about 6 p.m. Sunday, he said.
We are NOT implying that the California fires are an act of terrorism however; the threat of pyro-terrorist attacks pose a significant risk to the U.S. and the fires in California and in Greece earlier this year should be a wake-up call.
In 2003 an FBI memo alerted law enforcement agencies that an al-Qaeda terrorist being held in detention had talked of masterminding a plot to set a series of devastating forest fires around the western United States.
It was reported that the detainee, who was not identified, said the plan involved three or four people setting wildfires using timed devices in Colorado, Montana, Utah and Wyoming that would detonate in forests and grasslands after the operatives had left the country.
“The detainee believed that significant damage to the U.S. economy would result and once it was realized that the fires were terrorist acts, U.S. citizens would put pressure on the U.S. government to change its policies,” the memo said.
How Can So Many Fires Be By Natural Causes ?
A Local News Radio talk show host in San Diego asked, “how can so many fires, in so many places, in such a short period of time, all be caused by natural causes”.

“I’m sad to report this is an arson fire,” OCFA Chief Chip Prather announced at an early morning briefing. “There were three separate starts: two on one side of the road and one on the other, and obviously we are actively investigating that.”

I thought those ballons were launched by the japs in the last days of WW2 not at the start. am I thinking of something else?
Give me a break. I have had fires start in my ole CA hood from car accidents. These fires with the right conditions would burn out of control rapidly. Anyone who lives in the fire hazard areas of CA know this. These folks are always prepared too. I was.
It is a miracle that Silverado Canyon has not burnt down sooner. I have done lots of off roading in that area. It is a friggin tinderbox..

Fire balloons or balloon bombs were hot air balloons with one 15 kilogram antipersonnel bomb and two incendiary devices attached. They were launched by Japan during World War II to wreak havoc on American cities, forests and farmlands. They were called the Fu-Go Weapon, supposedly a revenge bomb for the 1942 Doolittle Raids on Tokyo.

This is what made our grandparents demand Roosevelt do something in California in another time. They reckoned if 2% of the Japanese snuck through as spies they could do a lot of damage. Heck you can’t even talk about that stuff. No, the way our government will attack the issue is to put more high def cameras up to watch you. Did you hear about the millions being spent on some infrared camera to catch people riding with dummies in the high occupancy lanes. Sure they added all these cameras to be able to peek inside your car while you are driving just to catch people using dummies. Like whoever used that excuse didn’t know the minute the system goes in, the dummy you heat by plugging into your cig lighter goes on the market. This is stupid. They’ll attack this by putting cameras on everything. George Orwell.
When my daughter was in high school one of her teachers gave an assignment where the students were to come up with a plan for how to deal with Saddam in Iraq (this was before we went into Iraq) the students were to present an idea, and then another if the first didn’t work- all the way to 10. My daughter wrote for scenerio 10- if all else fails turn Iraq into glass with nukes. She recieved no credit for that answer and was upset- she told me she was nice with her other nine steps- she just really felt if none of them worked- then glass it is.
