I am going to post just a small review of my night with 23 Republicans at the Fox News Orlando Republican Presidential Debate.
Luntz was angry early on before camera's went live when he polled the group to make sure everyone there was undecided. A 21 yr old guy raised his hand and said he was supporting Ron Paul. Luntz absolutely lost it on this kid and said "Why in the hell did you not put that on your questionaire that was e-mailed to you? Why does it not shock me that a Ron Paul supporter would pull this kind of crap?"
"If someone else shows up you are being replaced and out of here...this room is for undecided."
I was originally placed in the second row towards the end of the row next to a man named Fred Hawkins Jr. who is running for Osceola County Commissioner. Luntz asked us a bunch of questions with a camera crew and producers in tow behind him and I was the first to answer. I was the first person to use the word "socialism" and it spread like wild fire.
I said the concept of America voting a socialist like Hillary Clinton as President should be motivation enough for Republicans to get their act together. I reminded Luntz of the Hillary quote saying "This is the same woman who is quoted by the San Francisco Chronicle saying "We will have to take things away for the common good." Luntz had this smirk on his face and he knew I handed him gold.
After 3 segments it was time to go live. By the time you saw what you did at home we had already gone through 3 rounds of questions and I was lighting up the joint with what I call the biggest crisis this campaign.
What do any of these men who are running for President plan on doing to combat the extreme hatred of anyone who is a Republican by the mainstream media and how bad the liberal blogs, Soros, and just about everyone who has some sort of journalistic power slimes Republicans on a daily basis. Who is going to have the spine to stand up to it and how do they plan on doing it when the Bush Administration has been knocked out time and time again with no fight.
WHO IS GOING TO PREVENT THE PERCEPTION THAT REPUBLICANS ARE NOT WAR MONGERING NAZI'S WHO ARE OUT FOR OIL COMPANIES AND THE RICH?
Luntz definitely told us through his polling and research that as of today Hillary Clinton will win in a landslide. He was putting all of his money on her. I said you are going to go broke. He said Republicans are too disorganized and the focus group proved that.
I said not it does not. I said if you want to see motivation and organization? Put Hillary Clinton against any Republican and you will see Republicans vote like you have never seen before, the alternative is too grave. Whether we can stand it or not Republicans will do everything in their power to elect anyone else but Clinton.
You saw my exchange later on saying we have long memories and do not want to live through that hell again.
The Ron Paul comment I made was simple and sweet and every single person except the Ron Paul supporter all said "perfect" with regards to that remark.
Luntz walks over and says "you are good...you are going down to the front row...keep talking."
We taped about 70 mins worth of discussion. More clips will be aired at 6:20 AM on Fox and Friends First and then 8:20 AM on Fox and Friends. Then more clips from the debate will be aired on tomorrow's Hannity and Colmes as well from 9-10.
I am sure this is when you will see how hardcore it got in there.
I called out the room at the end of it all..when I saw how many people put their hands up that Rudy was the only one who could beat Hillary I said "I am really saddened to see how many people think he is their answer. That is very telling that the fire that was there earlier tonight for all of us agreeing that we want a true Conservative is gone already and that makes me sick as a true Conservative."
To me the top winners tonight were Romney, Huckabee, Thompson, and blech...I hate to say this but Rudy. His night was not that bad but he certainly is not my top choice for President.
I called for a thining of the herd. Paul, Tancredo, and Hunter need to go. They virtually played zero in the room. It was sad because I really like Tom and Duncan and said that if a Republican wins the White House in 2008 they should all be given cabinet posts ASAP.
Except Paul...which who by the end of the night lost his one supporter...the 21 yr old guy who didn't raise his hand when asked if anyone supported him.
Finally...Luntz. A nice guy but can be insulting. When he compared a moderate conservative to a major serious conservative he wanted a show of hands...then he added "When I say major serious conservative I mean you can hear the German Nazi marching bands and get excited", I then said to him "There it is..exactly what I was talking about." Luntz said "Relax I was only joking." I said "I know you were and it is that kind of talk that I am absolutely disgusted by and sick of...sick of it Frank...enough is enough with the nazi conservative comparisons people have got to speak up for conservatives...true conservatives."
That in a short capsule is it. Met some really nice people and we had a discussion at the end of everything and went our own ways.
I thank Luntz for letting me say whatever I wanted to on camera and speak up for Conservatives and letting me call Ron Paul out on global television.
I am still un-sure as to who I will be voting for. Watched them all last night and have 3 that I am leaning towards.
My neighbor told me that if it comes down to Rudy and Hillary, that she will not vote. She said her and all others christians with strong convictions should not vote if it comes down to them.
If it comes to Hillary and Rudy, I will vote RUDY.
Agreed, EXCEPT:
Let's see, Rudy is too liberal, can't vote for him. Why, if it is between him and Hillery, I will just sit this one out, there is not a dime's diff between the two.
Mccain? Yeah, he might work, but he is a hand grenade just waiting to go off. He is senile, he worked for immigration. Between him and hillery, might as well sit this one out.
Romney? Guess he would be ok, except he is insufficiently pro life, governed Mass (yuck, double yuck) and want my guns. So, between him and Hillery, can't do it, wouldn't be prudent, gotta sit that one out and teach the RNC a lesson. Yeah, that's the ticket.
Paul? You crazy? with him, I would vote for Hillery, as the lesser of two evils.
Fred? He passed gas one time in public, and does not brush his teeth on Sunday mornings. His wife is too young, and last century, he voted for/against stuff that I was against/for. On that basis, how could you expect me to vote for him??? Nope, gotta sit it out if the RNC forces him down my throat.
Hunter? I like him, but geez louis, he has never been anything but an attorney(demerits for that in itself) and a representative in that ill house of the nation. Nope, not enough experience, better for hillery to win, and give america a wake up call.
The rest of them have no chance, so voting for them would only waste my vote. I would be making more of a statement, and making my self much more important (impotent?)to actually vote for hillary, so as to hurry up and collapse this country. Then, Then, you will see a sea change, and the people will actually wake up and start voting conservative, like me.
:-)
“If it comes to Hillary and Rudy, I will vote RUDY.”
I understand. I reckon that you believe that that would be a better result for the country, for Mr. Giuliani to be president rather than Mrs. Clinton.
I disagree. As bad as a second Clinton presidency would be for the United States, I believe that a Giuliani presidency would be worse.
I won’t vote for a baby killer for president.

Nobody who I know of claims that Bush is a 'true conservative.'
And that's a shame.
But FDR and Truman were no conservatives either.
And there certainly were no Americans back then who'd have let a Stalinist like Hillary take over in those days because Harry And Franklin weren't enough like Ike.
Have you lost your mind? Either get Hunter to the top of the party, start his own party ....whatever it takes.....ANYTHING- ANYONE BUT HILLARY.
Only a running dog co-conspirator would consider sitting home and letting Hillary teach us all a lesson in how to permanently destroy the republic.
Even people who call themselves conservatives like Mansierre50D don’t even comprehend the meaning of “socialism” anymore.
Kids wear Che shirts to school, but Old Glory is not allowed in the classroom.
Marx is reaching out from the grave, and McCarthy was right, but gave us a bad name.
Patently untrue. Giuliani is a socially liberal, pro-military capitalist. Hillary is a communist who loathes the military.
That's not what he said.
He said your candidate is insane.
Two different things...
Yeah...you beat me to it. OTOH, no amount of common sense helps much on these threads.
Amen...me too...can not allow “sink abuse” in the White House ever again...and remember Hillary only wants to go back so that she can steal the remaining china and silverware she didn’t grab the first time.
Yes it is isn’t it.
That’s my take this go round. Glad it made sense to you.
I don’t like being put in this situation, and I hope it doesn’t come to that.
I am not a single issue voter. I look at the bigger picture. I don’t see Rudy as a baby killer, but I do think he would protect our country. If the far right stay home, and don’t vote, do you win anything?
I hate to admit it, but I think Rush has done more than anybody to propagate this "purity law" type thinking.
He says: "Conservatism works every single time it's tried."
It is demonstrably not true. Ask Rick Santorum, Michael Steele...
The conservative purists and the marxists have one thing in common: they want everything to be common.
They really don't believe in Federalism, with different laws in different states....they believe that there must be a Gay Marriage Amendment to make everything uniform across the country, pro- or con--. They believe in federal spending---for THEIR pet peeve.
We've lost the ability to even communicate why a broad coalition of a party (including Reagan democrats, etc.) is better than a purified one exclusive of all else.
If you REALLY want smaller government, abolish gummint skewels to show good faith. that is definitely a sane policy for smaller gummint. If we can save just one child (or a hundred million of them) from the relentless godless socialist indoctrination and the resulting absolute boredom of gummint skewel inmates......
President Reagan signed on to an amnesty plan because he was told there were only 1 million illegals in country, AND he was told legislation was being developed that would end it.
He signed on to the amnesty plan that legalized 3.5 million illegals and continued doing so on up into the early 1990s. And the legislation was passed, but never enforced.
We are told there are ten million illegals in country today. Using the same ratio, that means we’d be legalizing around 35 million people.
While you may laugh at that total, I was reading the other day where a latino activist was claiming there are 50 million illegals in the United States.
He was probably blustering to show how much clout they have, but I think some folks are in for a big surprise when it is finally revealed how many are actually here.
My guess is anywhere from 25 to 35 million. It may actually be higher. I’m just trying to be conservative on it.
Later...
Rudy and McCain were both good last night, as much as I hate to admit it. They both have a sharp, good-natured sense of humor that can be disarming at times.
Yep, and it’s too bad.
I’m not a single-issue voter, either.
In fact, really, the only issue with which I have agreement with Mr. Giuliani is the war. Even then, I view him as fatally flawed in his ability to prosecute the war, but that’s another story.
Thus, voting FOR Mr. Giuliani would reduce me to a single-issue voter.
“If the far right stay home, and dont vote, do you win anything?”
* chuckle *
It’s amusing that someone might lump me in with the “far right.” Some folks at FR have said that I’m not even a conservative at all.
In any event, if Mr. Giuliani is the Republican nominee, then conservatives will have already lost. Pretending otherwise would be foolish. It will be time to look to the future, to figure out how to minimize the current evil, and how to regroup for the future.
In my opinion, it will be important to make sure that Mr. Giuliani, baby-killer, goes down to ignominious defeat. Otherwise, the damage will be even greater.

Great job! But here's where I disagree. If Giuliani is the nominee, the socons either stay home or vote third party and Clinton wins it. That, and the Republican Party will be forever damaged by the debacle. Which is why we can't let Giuliani be the nominee.
