Best-selling author Dennis Avery is the next prominent figure to challenge the facts Al Gore is promoting in his global warming crusade. Mr. Avery is co-author of "Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1,500 Years." Both Al Gore and Dennis Avery have New York Times best-selling books on global warming, but with opposite conclusions.
The list of Al Gore detractors continues to grow as his extreme rhetoric and conclusions get dissected by scientists, economists, and researchers. Avery joins Lord Christopher Monckton (former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher advisor), Bjorn Lomborg (Danish economist), author Michael Crichton, Prof. S. Fred Singer (former director of the U.S. National Weather Service), Tim Ball, Ph.D. (historical climatologist), Prof. Ian Clark (University of Ottawa), and Prof. Richard Lindzen (MIT) among others.

Gore has refused all debate challengers to date. Joseph Bast, president of The Heartland Institute, noted, "Maybe it's because climate alarmists tend to lose when they debate climate realists. Or because most scientists do not support climate alarmism." The Heartland Institute has run more than $500,000 of ads in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and Washington Times promoting a debate.

Is that the one where we swaggered over to George and Bush looked up to see what Al was doing and shot the swaggering putz a look like he was going to deck him?
That was a great moment. I think we had a preview of Bush-43 being able to respond on his feet, an ability he had no doubt worked on as a fighter jock.
For me, I saw Gore act out in the height of arrogance. As if he was saying "I am the standing Vice-President and the obvious successor to the title".
Bush did not turn to the moderator and ask for a referee or a ruling. One strong glance, and Gore went back to his corner. It made the entire move look extremely foolish and wasted. If it was planned, then Bush's response was not anticipated, and Gore looked very "Non-presidential"
Like a cockroach running when the light shines on them.
Maybe its because bailing his son out of jail is a full time job in itself.
I remember that. Bush had a quizzical look on his face, then kind of nods his head at Gore. Gore backs off. WTF was Gore doing?
That's right Al ... and just try and make a touchdown, you scumbag!
Hadn't Gore swaggered over to drop some letter or something in front of GWB.
And I would describe what happens as a "nod." It was more the way you fix your gaze on someone you suspect is about to try something when you are 100% ready for it.
Remember the contempt with which the chattering class beheld Quayle?
Gore simply cannot survive in an environment that requires give and take.
“gore refuses to debate global warming theory.”
just as any totalitarian refuses to entertain opposing points of view. (a decision should be made as to shirt color for future appearances...uh, brown or black comrade gore?)
‘Remember the contempt with which the chattering class beheld Quayle? ‘
Yes, I do. And I’ve always found Bill Kristol’s smarmy comments since then never address the fact he was Quayle’s Chief of Staff, and let his boss at the time be denoted as a ‘stick figure’ now that you mention it.
Whats amusing is they like to trot out Bentson’s ‘you are no JFK’ comment...and forget Bentson got his ass kicked with his running mate in that same election cycle.
Quayle should have responded ‘Your right, I’m not drugged out of my mind, I have no plans to smoke pot in the Whitehouse, or have numerous affiars with hollywood bimbo’s or mob bosses molls....”
Yep, thats it.
That's the move! George put the fear in him for doing that. If Al could have found the iron lock box he was always talking about, he would have crawled in it.
Stupid move by a desperate candidate. Unfortunately, Rick Lazio pulled a similar move on the She-Beast that year - the feminists screeched that he had "invaded her space".
Some analysts have opined that move cost him election, putting her into the Senate, and we are now faced with the horrific prospect of the Bee-Yotch in the WH.
Gore won’t debate because the debate is settled. At least in his feeble mind it is. To Gore, to debate would only lend credence to the deniers.
He is credited by some to have said: "There are three types of lies - lies, damn lies, and statistics."
A Tale of Two Houses:
House #1: A 20 room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house, all heated by gas. In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not situated in a Northern or Midwestern “snow belt” area. It’s in the South.
House #2: Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university. This house incorporates every “green” feature current home construction can provide. The house is 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on a high prairie in the American Southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground.
The water (usually 67 degrees F.) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas and it consumes one-quarter electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area enable the property to blend into the surrounding rural landscape.

HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville, Tennessee; it is the abode of the “environmentalist” Al Gore. Environmentalist? Not him! Just wants everybody else in the world to be, so he can have more.
HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas; it is the residence the of the President of the United States, George W. Bush. Cheers for the President!!!
An “ inconvenient truth “. For Democrats!
