When a Dennys was built a couple of years ago within two minutes of us, we celebrated and went there the first day they opened - it’s our home away from home. We will definitely try their two new burgers. They also have a separate room for smokers and when we go there, they know we want that room. Actualy, they all know we sit at a certain table unless it’s occupied. That is our Dennys but we would allow you to visit, just don’t take our table.

Hardee's already did this, and did it better, been serving the MONSTER BURGER, since 2004... 1400+ calories and 107 grams of fat.

In many places, Denny’s is the gang-banger and GB wannabe hangout. Brawls break out all the time. Luckily, they are on Youtube

Nobody loves In-N-Out more than I, but that 100x100 thing is just a stupid waste of good food.

I don’t mean to be a grouch, but, as a person who has been hungry without knowing where their next meal is coming from, I believe that food should be treated with respect, not used as a toy or for some dumb publicity stunt. This is why I disdain eating contests, pie fights, “world’s largest pizzas”, and other food-related “fun”. To use food as a plaything is an insult to those who break their backs to produce it, and to the God Who created the beasts and plants that die so that we might live.

Too many people in this world go hungry for us to treat food with anything less than humility and gratitude. There is a reason we thank God for our daily bread.

You make a fair point and gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins but it’s a free (for now) country so I guess people can indulge as they see fit.

Of course they can. I’m not saying such things should be illegal; we have too many laws as things are. I just wish people wouldn’t do them.

Well we can both agree that some of these are in poor taste, pun intended.

And to think, I had sushi from one of the university vendors tonight because I was too lazy to leave campus and in too much of a hurry to order out. I could’ve gone to Hardees for a thickburger or to Pal’s (a local favorite) for a double Big Pal. You gotta love a burger chain with a giant burger, hot dog, and fries built right into their design:

The triple decker burger at Backyard Burgers is pretty good, too!

Hey! You know I’ll talk about food any time, anywhere!

Best place ‘round here for breakfast “the morning after” is Mickey’s Dairy Bar. You can have a hand-made chocolate shake with your BREAKFAST if you want one. No lie. :)

I am not sure if McDonald’s still deep fry the apple pies or even if they still sell them but yes the deep fried ones were yummy.

I believe that in the U.S. that Popeyes is the only chain that still serves a fried apple pie.

I am curious as to where did Albion White see those croquettes in posting #86?

The best croquettes that I have ever had were in Tokyo at a meat shop called Maruya Niku-ten (the curry ones are especially good), but I haven't seen any sold in the U.S.

I got the croquettes photo from a site hosting food pictures, not from a restaurant site. I just checked around, but couldn't find it again (the original post was last summer). There's nothing like a nice warm croquette.

By the way, Snugs, the McDonald's apple pies in the U.S. are not fried, but the last time I was in London (2002) they were fried in the McDonald's on the Strand. YUM!! The baked American ones are almost 400 calories apiece, and they sell them two for a dollar, so I hesitate to think how many calories are in the UK fried version! Here's a photo of the fried ones:

Overeaters should have stood with smokers against the nanny state. Now it’s coming to eat you. Enjoy unhealthy food while you can.

They're already doing it with trans-fats. I suspect some of these nitwits won't be happy until restaurant food is roughly the same as what you would eat at home (and they want to regulate that, too, I bet). And after all that, who the hell would want to go out anymore?
