Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

I think if something had been done about Rumsfeld prior to the election, the outcome would have been drastically different.

All the carping over Rumsfeld came from the left. Rumsfeld may have been "in over his head", but that's not to say he had commanders in the field of battle reporting back to him. They're the ones who decide if we need more or less troops.

I really think this thread can be a positive. We’ve been fighting this way for months now. It’s ugly entertainment. But we’ve all really laid into each other, something that we’ve needed for a long time. I know that after a fight on the playground when I was a kid, as often as not, I became friends with the kid I fought with.

This has been a real air it all out thread. That’s good. I’m really tired of fighting with people. I spent my day with my daughter and only checked this thing occasionally. I still want to see if it lasts to 5.000 posts or flames out.

Fred Thompson's main claim to fame as a Senator was as the driving force behind CFR.

Anyone who voted for it (Thompson did) was a driving force.

No one remembers the intra-party battles over slavery and the Civil War

This ol timer remembers it well....dial-up, 1200/2400 baud connections, 4 mgs ram, monochrome CRTs, dropped connections....it was a real battle and prolonged because of the delays...truces printed out on dot-matrix printers. Yes, it's burned in my memory. Let up pray.

And for the record, I don’t post that list with glee. It’s just for information.

“Because comparing it with Mr. Robinson’s original post, there would be reasonable particulars for banning supporters of Ron Paul and libertarians in general”

B/S nobody got banned for wanting Paul.

It didn’t all come from the left. Remember that they ran editorials in the Army Times, Navy Times, and Air Force Times calling for his resignation.

That’s not exactly a vote of confidence...

“I am fairly inclined to think that it will be made clear to Rudy that if he ever hopes to get the nomination, he has to tow the line on certain conservative principles like second amendment rights and abortion.”

It is too late for that, if he had started “growing” a couple of years ago maybe it would have worked, but not now, and the position that FR has just taken is just the first of many body blows yet to come for him.

Someone mentioned the gun groups earlier and there are other powerful conservative groups that will start hardening their stance on him.

At some point when the right chooses a candidate, Rudy is going to discover the strength of the social conservative and pro gun institutional and grass roots capabilities.

"Your side" is funny to an undecided.

Another term used over and over today was "undecided".

Yeah...

Nah, you didn't threaten. It was more patronizing, "You looking to get gone and come back as somebody else grunt?".

Your links; interesting.

Remember that they ran editorials in the Army Times, Navy Times, and Air Force Times calling for his resignation.

Those are left winged publications, and aren't affiliated with the branches of the military. I believe TIME magazine owns them.
