We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.
One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to rule over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.
All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.
FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?
Do you really expect me to do that?

So, Jim Robinson and the rest of the members of Free Republic are "irresponsible" and "unprincipled" and they "make stupid presumptions to make themselves feel like they're better than others when they're not." If I understand you correctly, you're saying that FReepers aren't better than others. Now, I don't know what "others" you're referring to. Liberals, maybe? We're not better than liberals and if we think we are we're making "stupid presumptions"? Is that what you're saying?
So, earlier in this thread you said that conservative FReepers who refused to vote for Giuliani were "irresponsible". And now you're saying that they are "unprincipled." You point at this thread - started by Jim Robinson (your host by the way) - wherein he proceeds to tear up the liberal Rudybots and send a handful of them into exile - as the example that YOU are more "principled" and the he and the rest of the thread's participants (except for those on your side, of course) are "unprincipled".Beyond "irresponsible" and "unprincipled", do you have anything else you'd like to get off your chest about how you feel about Free Republic, our host, and the rest of the FReepers here?

You've been here for over 6 years while you believe that the majority of FReepers AND Jim Robinson are "unprincipled", "irresponsible", and they make "stupid presumptions" because they think they're better than liberals when they're not. What does that say about YOU? Why would you put up with a bunch of people like us for 6 years if you find us so repugnant to your sensibilities? Especially when Jim Robinson and the rest of us are not better than the liberals we oppose?
Come on, let it all out. Let this be your cathartic moment. What other insults do you want to hurl our way?
It does say that, but it doesn't say "we're all supposed to support the same candidate". That's the disconnect among many here. Conservatism is not monolithic. Just like the ages, it's fluid, and it's ever-expanding, and ever-changing, even though it's founded and built upon a solid foundation of timeless beliefs. Beliefs that go way back to the Founding Father's of this country.
I don’t know. I read it earlier on the thread, somewhere between posts 2,500 and 3,500 IIRC. Sorry I can’t be more specific.
Disappointed to see it reinstated, it being the worst of the worst...always.
4 days ago.....none too soon.

“But not Free to support a particular candidate.”
Then why is it that Peach and KatieO were allowed to stay. They weren’t banned for supporting Giuliani, they were given warning to watch the way they support their candidate, specificall Peach attempted to manipulate Reagan’s record and equate the two. Peach chose to not only do that but constantly pushed the owners buttons.
I see taglines supporting Giuliani around, still here.
Spiff, my hat is off to you.
You know just which rock to pick up and find the bugs.
LOL. That’s a good one.
Character is what a man/woman is, it is presented to the world via their fruits (rotten or good), it is what is shown even when nobody is watching. Rudy's character is visible for all to see, part of yours and my character is what we do with that information. BTW... the only gleeful thing I see from you is your condemnation of religious/conservative people with your tagline.
BTW... I have NOT called once for anyones banishment on this site, not once, nor have I gloated over anyone's demise (and their have been some golly whoopers to pick from today).. some have, but not I.
I will leave you with one final quote (from a wingnut?)...
There's nothing conservative about Giuliani. He's a flaming liberal. -- Jim Robinson

I know, I was surprised by that. But for a ‘newbie’, he was pretty “veteran-like”, I’m betting he was a banned person sneaking back in. I don’t remember seeing him say anything untoward, or seeing the moderators say anything, but he is banned.
How loving....How Christian.
Humility is the first step on the road to knowing God. Why wait 'til you're dead?
I don't know much about it. Its a service that you can buy that bounces your IP to another. Like you don't know.
My speculation is that he’s a previously banned poster. If so, he was probably caught by an ip address check or something.
I didn’t see him say anyting untoward.
“There are different kinds of conservatives.”
Really there are 3 primary types: economic, social, political...there are many who have all three.
If Rudy toes the conservative line, he’ll win in the General Election. If he goes Rockefeller Republican, he’ll lose.
The base has started scrutinizing him, and it ain’t good. His remarks about abortion or gun control(I can’t remember), last week, may well have sunk his campaign in the Red States.
If he has good campaign handlers, they can deflect and diminish the damage he caused, but I think he crippled his campaign.
If not for the Giuliani supporters here, I personally wouldn’t have gotten into discussions intense enough to send me off to Google buried bits of his record. The name-calling from all sides sucks, but the discourse has helped illuminate the issues (albeit often not in the way Giuliani’s supporters might have liked).
In short, I’m sorry to see people go, because in true capitalist fashion, the competition (of ideas, in this case) helps the party. That said, it’s not my site, and JR has every right to determine what FR will be.
Yes they did,,,seemed very strange to me...
I'm wondering why this thread (posted shortly after the close of the Freepathon) applies only to Rudy supporters. Shouldn't Ron Paul supporters (and libertarians in general) also be anathema to social conservative principles?
