Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

Needs dates

Nahhh, the dearly departed Peach's shameless lies and pandering are timeless.

I'm beginning to think CharlesWayneCT was right about the RudyBots having some sort of posting-death-wish, I guess Peach guzzled a bit too much of that purple RudyAid.

Will I miss her?

Like a damn toothache.

“Being a Libertarian leaning conservative, I don’t like any of the GOP candidates they are all closet socialists. I am tired of the pandering to the fundamentalist vote. I’m sorry to say that IMHO the “holy roller” issues have no business in government. If you want a party based on theocratic principles, start one.”

If you want a Libertarian party you should just stay in that one that is already there.

Don’t worry about the Republican party being social conservative.

You DO realize that Wikipedia’s definaitions can be changed by anyone who wants to, don’t you? As such, it is not a reliable reference to anything.

Jim has been extremely patient with these rude people, especially Peach. And what does she do in return? Continue to insult him and practically dare him to shut her down. She got what she deserved—and it was way past due for it.

Well stated.

The Democrats had to run as conservatives to win the last midterms.

And there is a reason Lieberman beat Lamont. Americans are basically conservative IMO - though not in the vein of Buchanan, or other righties of that sort. They tend to vote for the sane middle of the conservative spectrum, a la Reagan, and IMO, Rudy. I think Fred Thompson will be seen that way too, if he gets into it. On the right, but not heavy on the moralizing, or rigid.

In other words, amiable, as Reagan was. Not strident in his views or demeanor. That goes a long way with the American people.

Have you seen the latest Rasmussen poll? (Considered the most accurate poll in the business)

34% of registered voters are committed to vote GOP.

44% of registered voters are committed to vote Democrat.

The remainder, 22% are independent/swing. (moderate)

The elections in ‘06 pretty much illustrated the trend pointed out in this poll. The margin of victory for the Dems, was around 10%. The same margin exists in this poll.

But the proof will still be revealed in the coming months. The isolated opinions expressed on this forum, are still way off the chart in regards to mainstream America. The polls consistently support that theory.

Thank you for that Post.

Ping to calcowgirl's 1797 for a fellow former Operation Rescuer ("Diamond") and another fellow Pro-Lifer ("The_Eaglet") regarding Ronald Reagan's true record on Abortion:

Perhaps it wasn't quite as bad as we thought, even in 1967... only the results were. ("Give 'em an inch... and they'll take a mile".)

Did I know Lieberman was a big-time liberal? Yes. But I believe I was making a smart political decision given the choices.

The ability to bifurcate one's political philosophy from our shared political reality is a technique that many FReepers have yet to embrace, but might do so as events unfold.

I think you're right; I find myself in agreement with those that criticize Rudy for being a liberal and oppose his constitutional interpretations regarding 2A, Roe, etc. However, he's still a better choice for the country v Hillary!, and for those reasons I would vote for him in the general election.

You said:

BULL$HIT! You are a coward who will vote for a left wing liberal, in order to stop a left wing liberal.

"BULL$HIT! You are a coward who will vote for a left wing liberal, in order to stop a left wing liberal AntiChrist".

There...fixed it.

Furthermore, my views on immigration don't make me less of a conservative.

No sir. They make me more mainstream and you more extremist.

In any event, I am not a Rudy Giuliani fan. But, I will vote for him in November if he ends up the GOP nominee.

And...so should you.

“holy roller” issues have no business in government.

This is why you do need it:

One of the first things a socialist will remove is God.

You see, I am an American. I really upon me and my God to solve my problems. I pray to my God and not my Government.

If the Socialist are successful at removing God from public view, folks will begin to forget about God. The idea is to get the people to really upon the Government from the cradle to the grave.

1st Amendment: Congress shall pass no law to establish a religion, or limit the free exercise thereof,

Congress is the only entity with the power to establish a religion and they are restricted from doing so. A pray in school does not establish a religion. A manger scene does not establish a religion. Ten Commandments in a court room do not establish a religion. Neither does voting for a National day of prayer, which our very first Congress did.

Only Congress has the power to do establish a religion and they can't. Now, Congress can not pass a law to keep a child from saying a prayer, or putting a manger scene or Ten Commandment on public property. That would be restricting the right to freely exercise your religion.

You see, the assault on religion has already begun. I am not advocating a theocracy, but I am advocating to keep God in public view.

Here's my favorite quote from the Gipper:

"So, it was our Republican Party that gave me a political home. When I signed up for duty, I didn't have to check my principles at the door. And I soon found out that the desire for victory did not overcome our devotion to ideals".
--Ronald Reagan remarks at the Republican National Convention in New Orleans, August 15, 1988.

It's absolutely DISGUSTING to watch 'so-called' conservatives slam REAL CONSERVATIVES like Reagan--in an attempt to defend a LIBERAL like JulieAnnie. The JulieAnnie apologists are doing it with Reagan, they did it with Duncan Hunter,,,and now they are doing it with Fred Thompson.

Many of those liberal apologists most certainly WILL be 'checking their principles at the door'. Disgusting,,,,absolutely DISGUSTING.

Name 1 thing Rudy has done to keep our nation secure. Provide evidence of one piece of legislation he has sponsored...

He was a big supporter of Clinton's 1994 Crime Bill, including the Assault Weapons Ban. In fact, Clinton was so inspired by Giuliani's thoughts on national licensing of guns that he had him consult with Janet Reno before its drafting.

Is that what you meant? ;-)
