Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

-that is sooo melodramatic. FR is a CONSERVATIVE website...I am glad Jim reoriented us back to our cause. I keep popping in to check out this thread when I see it......and I rme a lot! I am a proud FReeper and was relieved to see Jim’s comments when he posted this thread.

Threads are high jacked all the time......this forum must never be high jacked. I stand by Jim's vision for FR. I willingly give him the leeway to keep it moving in the "right" direction.

BTW, in case you didn’t catch the meaning of my last post to you last night, I was attempting to put the shoe on the other foot, so to speak. I’m sure you would grow weary of having someone misrepresent your opinions, as I have grown weary of you doing that to me. :)

That particular cycle is apparent throughout history. All you have to do to prove it is to go read the book of Judges.

LOL Whether your horse kicked you in the head or not, your rhetoric is off the wall.

In your last post to me you said:

>>>>>Why do you want to vote for [Rudy]. I just can't understand people like you supporting him right now when it is this early in the game and we have better men to choose from.

A crazy falsehood, posted by one wacky poster. Clearly a nights rest didn't help your forum demeanor. You need a long vacation.

But it’s not dues. And he doesn’t sell stock shares. He can turn it off any time he gets tired of it.

It belongs to him.

He sets the rules and the terms of use.

Even if we contribute to keeping it up, it doesn’t give us any inherent right to tell him how to run it.

That would be like a friend giving you 50 dollars, and telling you, “Now because I gave you that money, I don’t want to see that religious picture on your mantle the next time I come over to visit.”

You might or might not comply, but you’re certainly not under any obligation to do it.

You shoved both feet in your mouth with that last post. Now live with it! I haven't misrepresented anything you've said. You don't pay attention long enough to get anything right. Most of your posts are off the wall. ;^)

"“I hardly think my response was “snarky”. “

I’m sure you don’t.

“You think it is “Freepercide” - fine.I happen to think diferently.”

Then you didn’t read the thread and the statements made directly to Jim Rob.

“If I have ofended your sensibilities - well, that is okay too, I guess.”

Hardly. It is you who seems to be sensitive to the fact that the Rudy supporters were banned because they just couldn’t control their enthusiasm and just HAD to ‘make their point’. Well it was made. And they lost.

“I hate the celebratory tone that is taken every time that someone is gone - for whatever reason or rationalization. But I have come to know some of these people over years and thousands of comments.” -

I’ve been here from the beginning and from what I’ve read of some of the posters who are ‘celebrating’, it seemed a well deserved critique of how they had been treated.

“For you to judge them over their last how-ever-many posts is patently wrong. It is sad. It is wrong. It is punitive. And it is telling.” -

I judge them, as I see them. When someone tells me “If you don’t support Rudy, and Hillary becomes president, then it will be YOUR FAULT! if you don’t vote for him”, then I have a tendency to take a little offense to that. Apparently, my ‘choices’ are fine as long as they agree with THEIRS. Sounds a little bit PC and ‘liberal’ to me.

“The witch hunt must stop. It must. If you wish to flush out those who think “differently” you will find only an echo chamber left behind. Tell me that isn’t wrong.”

It would be wrong, if it were true. But it’s not. You have it backwards. No one here, from all the posts I’ve read, started a ‘witch hunt’ against the Rudy supporters. They, by there own writings and attitudes, managed to get themselves banned from this site. You don’t think they committed Freepercide, but that only tells me that you either didn’t read all the posts and comments made by them, or you just don’t care because, after all, ‘Can’t we all just get along?’.

“They hate the far-left, the liberalism that threatens our immediate well-being. And, I must say this, despite my hesitancy to speak for others.”

Yes. They may hate the liberalism that threatens our security or, as you put it, our ‘immediate well-being’. But what of future childrens well-being? The 3000 daily abortions. They don’t count? How about gun control? That type of ‘liberalism’ isn’t a threat to our well-being?
Their argument were ‘we’ll just worrry about that later’. What if there is no ‘later’ because a democrat Congress passes even stricter gun control and a ‘liberal’ Rudy signs it into law? Impossible you say? If so then your dreaming.

“Please, call for a stop to this nonsense.”

I’ve read the rest of you post, and it’s nothing more than a repeat of what you’ve said before.

If you want to stop the ‘nonsense’, as you put it, then maybe you should talk to some of your ‘friends’ that just can’t seem to stop theirs.

Every story has two sides. And you seem only inclined to believe one of them.

I probably won’t be here for your reply, because I have to work. But it doesn’t matter because until you can come back and tell me that you’ve read through this thread and gotten the ‘whole’ picture of what went on, then replying to me would be a waste of my time and yours.

I find that you seem to have this ‘noble’ idea that no matter our differences, some hear should just ‘shut up and take it’.

The owner of this site isn’t going to ‘shut up and take it’, and neither am I and many more here."

Hey Big—You post to LL is right on. If he doesn’t get it by now then it says more about him then it does FR. The one thing you said that was so 100% right on about LL is this comment here: “I find that you seem to have this ‘noble’ idea that no matter our differences, some hear should just ‘shut up and take it’.” Exactly right. I find LL's thinking similar to how liberals think—do as I say, not as I do. They like to tell people how to behave but for some reason they don't think the rules apply to them.

LL, it’s time for you quit your nonsense here—no one is buying it. Here's some good advice for you LL, it's the same advice you've been giving us. Let me just use your very own words, “Please, call for a stop to this nonsense". Good advice you give. Now, go tell all your friends this and stop spending so much time here telling us to “shut-up" because it ain’t gonna happen. If you don’t like how it is here at FR then go play at your new playground at WA.

Good post and true.....but without member participation, Jim Rob (as far as I know) could not afford to maintain the server and maintenance fees for such a colossal site.... I think more of FR as a member supported conservative website with a ceo that sets the rules and maintains the "company".....not a house. I've never heard of a house paid for by someone else that you just happen to live in.....unless it's in some commie state....

"We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us! It behooves us, then to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness." - Abraham Lincoln - Proclamation for a National Day of Fasting

I stand by Jim’s vision too, at least most of it. I don’t stand by driving out conservatives for championing the leading Republican candidate. I think most of the people who are gone were, as Luke21 put it, natural allies whose political differences would have vanished whenever the Republican nominee is announced. I think the fratricide going on here, since FR is an actual force in today’s politics, hurts our cause.

I was saying that the mention of abolishing slavery is a red herring.

--------------------------------------

"The name of this fallacy comes from the sport of fox hunting in which a dried, smoked herring, which is red in color, is dragged across the trail of the fox to throw the hounds off the scent. Thus, a "red herring" argument is one which distracts the audience from the issue in question through the introduction of some irrelevancy. This frequently occurs during debates when there is an at least implicit topic, yet it is easy to lose track of it."

I see you've arrived on the immortal thread. The way I've heard that one is that Woody Allen stole it from an ancient Hebrew Proverb:"Man plans and God laughs!"

I'm glad to see you say that you'll be around despite the temporarily disagreeable atmosphere. We're just going through "The Silly Season" and that's not to say that everyone feels stongly justified and totally vested in their current points of view.

You're a business leader and industrialist. You know how people are at times. We must all maintain our cool at all times!!! Life is short!!! (I'll never forget the way you scoped out my old stompin grounds for me without even me asking you to do it! God bless you!)

I am grieving because I, along with many of the departed, celebrated being here. ... If you wish to flush out those who think “differently” you will find only an echo chamber left behind. ... Good grief, I’m appealing to everyone’s sense of thought, everyone’s sense of fairness.... They hate the far-left, the liberalism that threatens our immediate well-being. They view our most immediate threat as the desire of our apocalyptic destruction from the jihadists - yours, mine, our loved ones, the born and unborn. ... Please, I appeal to your sense of reason. Is this right? Surely there is room for some reasonable discourse.
***OK, if your appeal is based upon a sense of reason and fairness and the view that these people hate the left but are looking for reasonable discourse with us, how do you explain comments like this in the other forum?

It is MineralMan on page 45 on the link below saying

“My time over there was always as an agent provocateur, and merely a hobby for me. I’m watching from a distance, now, because it amuses me to do so. I have no stake in what happens there, politically or otherwise. It’s just amateur psychology for me.”

Always good to meet a fellow aficianado of grits, the regular grits are preferable as I see it, I’m happy to say that I’ve never had a bad bowl of grits, either in a restaurant or at home.

And grits are good the day after (if there are any left), add them as filler to your next meat loaf, and as Andy Griffith might say ‘mmmmmmmmmmmmmmhEM!’
