Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

Why are pinging WA members to join you in your little game?

Because Lando Lincoln has posted very thoughtful responses on this thread and also posts on WA, I specifically named him in my combined response to you and Luke 21, and it's FReeper etiquette to ping those mentioned in a post.

Or have I not yet gotten the memo - it's no longer FReeper etiquette to ping a FReeper named in a post if they post on another website?

I don’t believe you. You falsely accused me of saying things that I never said, and tried to get Lando Lincoln and Luke21 to join in your smear campaign by lying to them. Is Howlin feeding you the script?

Take your time. I won’t be reading your reply any time soon.

I didn't FALSELY accuse you of anything. I wrote a COMBINED response to things said to me on this thread by YOU (the first half) and Luke21 (the second half of that response). I wanted that to be my last post of the night - it's very late here.

In hindsight, perhaps I should have said BykrBayb wrote: and Luke21 wrote: - but I've written combined responses like this before without ANY complaint that I've accused a poster of saying something he or she didn't.

I'm not engaged in a "smear campaign". To the extent Luke21 has commented about what I have said, he is on YOUR SIDE. Pinging him will not help me with my so-called "smear campaign". And Lando Lincoln won't join my "smear campaign", unless you think generally asking for civility is a "smear campaign".

Is Howlin feeding you the script?

No. I am not in contact with Howlin - or anyone else about my posts. Believe it or not, I can think and write on my own.

Regular grits?
Within five minutes even “regular” grits can be enjoyed (plus you can get a 5lb bag for a dollar, 1 1/2 cents/serving where “instant” ones are $2 for ten small pouches, abt 20 cents/serving). For “regular” or “instant”, you have to heat the water anyway, so the time doing that is a wash..

Here’s how I make grits perfectly done every time.

Start by measuring water to grits at a ratio of 3 parts water to 1 part grits and 1/2 tsp seasalt per cup of water to be used. To save some time, you can begin with hot tap water. Your individual taste for salt may vary. Allow 3 tbsp uncooked grits per serving and adjust water per the 3:1 ratio.
Bring water and seasalt to a low boil and turn heat OFF.
Add dry grits slowly while stirring.
Cover and allow to stand for four minutes.
Uncover, stir, serve, and enjoy a Southern staple.

If Howlin’s banned, it’s pretty hard to read her posts, isn’t it?

You can read them.

Click on my screen name, which goes to my home page. Click on "in forum". You'll see my posts. Replace my screen name with Howlin's in the box. You'll see hers.

Didn't our own descendants fight and die to free them from slavery?

Oh goody! Another red herring.

But, that reminds me of another thing I love about this board. And that is the wide ranging subject matter that Jim has come to allow to be discussed here. And, I recall, as that began to happen, some folks complained that we were getting away from the Prime Directive.

At that time, he would have been totally justified to squelch discussions of history (such as the War of Northern Aggression), food, sports, entertainment, etc. But, he figured out a way to allow for that and make this pretty much a one stop shop for a lot of us.

Couple of examples: When Johnny Hart died a couple of weeks back, within minutes, there was a thread complete with old B.C. comics and tributes from Freepers who enjoyed his work over the years. Then there are the little cyber communities that form around shared interests. I have gotten invaluable advice on my computer many times.

I enjoy NASCAR, the Mark Levin show, weather events and others. We are allowed that pleasure.

And I, for one, appreciate it very much.

What you said is so right on it’s worth repeating.

“Which is why this thread is at 14k and counting. There are some dynamics operating that are worth looking at. One is that with the new anti-freeper website WideAwake up, they now have a place to go and many of them feel like they gain more credibility over there if they get zotted over here. It’s an attempt to push us to the limit so they can show how unreasonable we supposedly are. Another is that a lot of people signed up in 2000 during the presidential race and it was because FR was the best spot on the web to discuss republican politics at the time. Some never realized that this was a socon site. I’ve pointed it out many times prior to this thread and got “huh?” or “It SHOULD say such & such” or “screw you/bye bye” or “I don’t have to explain myself to you” or even that socons are for big guvmint because outlawing a private choice of abortion is an intrusion into citizens lives and all kinds of other responses. Rudybots like to say he’s so strong on WOT but once you point out a few surrounding inconsistencies with rudy on WOT, they don’t back down because the real reason isn’t WOT, it’s that they AGREE with rudy on social issues and they know that if they admit that, they’ve lost their leverage in the debate. It’s another reason why there are so many crickets on tootyfruityrudy threads”

What we had was a pack of posters who shone as sparkling and nice pro-FreeRepublic supporters, on display on freepathons and similar topics, so all could see how nice they were. Behind the scenes, they rallied for ruthless attacks on hapless true conservatives, sometimes tag teaming them to the point of bursting. They they would spring the traps to try to get them zotted. I would spot the team in action as a happy bunch of middle-of-the-road posters one moment and at the next watch the team shred victims in threads pushed to the smoky backroom where few witnessed. Watch a National Geographic on hyenas catching a baby antelope.

I would describe their standard technique in analogy of two little sisters facing momma. One is smiling and reaches around and gives a good pinch to her sister. When the sister reacted with a squeal, the perp would look in innocent shock and momma would punish the vic.

I rarely engaged that pack, but did indeed witness. I hold no animosity towards the departed, just gratitude they are gone.
