We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.
One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to rule over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.
All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.
FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?
Do you really expect me to do that?
Best analogy yet.
You know...perhaps, if FreeRepublic would have had 'special invitation' threads...aka known as anti-Rudy threads...none of this would have happened.
Allow the great unwashed the ability to look over your shoulder...for an education, etc., but no opposite point of view allowed....so that you stay focused, etc..
It would have worked.
The only ones who are any threat to "take down the party" are RINOs.
I'd say that is the thrust of this thread. Read the title.
"Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?"
Capice?
Alexis de Tocqueville
“Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.”
“In order to win in 2008 we’re going to need tons of Reagan Bluedogs crossing over to our side.
ESPECIALLY when you consider the religious right is threatening to stay home entirely.
That’s what she meant. We have to appeal to the majority to save this country...hell...to SAVE the free world.”
It must take an awful lot of discipline to conceal your conservatism so successfully.
“””Howlin made a post on FR saying that conservatives have their foot on the throat of Republicans’.”””
Shoulda known - eventually, the art of persuasion ain’t pertinent when your Navy training emphasizes artillery.
Plus - Howlin never gave a quarter to Newbies floundering in the ocean. She was mean and bossy.
Operation Opus - fatal error.
10-9-8-7......
It may be the thrust of this thread, but once AGAIN, you take for granted those of us conservatives that disagree with the tactics.
Sorry, but that’s just the way it is.
Capice?
I think people stopped keeping it. It was a bone of contention and was being used by those who saw it as a tool to enrage other folks.
You have a way-over-inflated opinion of those who FReepercided.
FRs foundations are in fine shape. Best I've seen 'em in years.
You must not remember the election of 1976. Gerald Ford was the Rockefeller Republican (like Rudy). Ford was also the incumbent president. Reagan took him to the mat in the primaries and at the national convention and almost pinned him. The Party was cleaved cleanly in half.
You must be a writer or sumthin. That stuff was real purty and so well said, er I mean, ritten. And I liked it so much I think I’ll frame it.
Couldn't find the one with the house dropped on her sister
You are welcome. =) I may have it saved along with some other Rudy stuff I have. If I do, I’ll either ping you or send it in a Freepmail.
Regardless of the analogy I picked, maybe not spot on. I would hope the point was made. This website has an owner to whom I respect. He made a place for us Conservatives to make a huge difference. For that I’ve been grateful more than words could say. Maybe not agree with all opinions but at the same time FReepers are the reason the owner has success. Is that a wrong analogy? I’d never call someone an a**wipe. I hope I don’t go down for that one sentence.
You are probably right that some of the folk who are gone were no doubt pleased and vindictive at certain bannings in the past, but I don’t see that as particularly characteristic of them. Perhaps not really characteristic of the folk who are so happy now either.
I wonder if the freepers who are so glad to see the departures have always been at odds with those who are gone, or are just caught up in the fury of the moment.
In any case, I don’t see this purge as a good thing for FR.
Much more cynical than gullible, IMNSHO! LOL!
You are correct there, however, do you feel Mad Ivan (who has been respectful in his disagreements with FR) has any real say in who shall become President of the United States? I suspect he's probably some professor in the UK trying to create interest in his class.
Bottom line, he created an anti-freeper site and he has NO SAY in American politics.
I'm very big on states rights and the US not interfering with the rest of the world.
