Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

Many of Giuliani’s actions and beliefs are NOT liberal.

But a huge amount are, and on very important issues. Nor has he been campaigning all across the country for liberal Republicans but those across the party including very conservative ones.

I never addressed who he campaigns for. I addressed his liberalness, which is proven by his record and the things he says.

But what are FACTS compared to your claims?

You haven't even attempted to show the things I have problems with about Rudy aren't true. You have tried to throw in straw men to deflect valid criticisms. Rudy is a proven liberal just shut up and take it.

Has areafiftyone been suspended?

That's a good question. I've been checking her (I apologize if it's a he) account for days.

Still here.

Even though A51 is the (IMO) most ardent Rudy supporter on Free Republic ever, she is still unzapped.

Probably because she has stayed off this thread.

I am having trouble wondering why people think someone who believes and stands up on issue very similar to Hillary Clinton positions will be the only one able to save us from nuclear terrorism?

And why everything else that makes America worth saving doesn’t matter?

A51 has largely refrained from using FR to attack Fred or other conservatives (although she does indulge in such from time to time).

Using FR as a springboard for two-faced attacks on conservatives and conservative values is largely what drove the recent bannings. I hope a few Rudy boosters stay around so we keep our Rudy retorts sharpened.

However, you made a pretty declarative statement that people in American are for federally funded abortion, open borders, sanctuary cities, and forcing special gay rights and the agenda on us and our children

I agree with you about taking back the institutions.

I guess I would modify your characterization about my views of where the people are as follows:

In the abstract, a majority of Americans are against federally funded abortion, open borders, sanctuary cities, and forcing special gay rights and the agenda on us and our children.

As a practical matter, however, through the decisions they make when voting, a majority of Americans are permissive towards those things that they oppose in the abstract.

Candidates who run on an agenda of "taking the bull by the horns", whether it is on borders, or abortions, or actively opposing the "gay agenda", don't appear to do well.

Achieving conservative GOVERNANCE, rather than governance by liberals who are using conservative ideas to get elected, is very difficult.

And it's all the more difficult because lots of these "conservative" candidates are deluding themselves about what they believe, and what they are willing to do.

The present occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is exhibit #1 of that phenomenon.

>> IF ???

1948: Tom Dewey vs. "Mr. Conservative," Robert Taft, who wanted to dismantle New Deal socialism. Dewey wins the nomination, hands election to much disliked Democrat Harry Truman. We still have the New Deal socialism sixty years later.

And a few pseudo-Freepers who like it that way.

I read through some of the posts last night and noticed that Fatima seemed to be a little upset by everything.

It is my sincere hope, that we all understand that FR is a conservative site and that Jim is simply taking steps to preserve it as such. This is not a vendetta or some type of fascist purge. It is a reaffirmation of what conservatism really is. NOBODY was banned without multiple warnings and they all blatantly flaunted their contempt for Jim, FR and conservatism in general. There was nothing random about it.

When you contend with anti-conservative advocacy, personal attacks and incivility day after day, year after year, you get completely cured of the notion that such liberal pushers are “conservatives... who lost their way.” Snakes in the grass is more like it; at least some of them.

Did anybody ever notice what "RadioAstronomer" means? It means "dealing with radio waves received from outside the earth's atmosphere." (Definition straight from the dictionary.)

Isn't that how the Mother Ship gives you your orders?

Fear of Hillary or the fear of terrorists, or both are driving some to compromise their principles for Rudy. I was tempted in that direction too until I learned more about who he really is.
