The Tower Shooting by Whitman was televised live. I remember watching it in shock on the television as it was happening. At the time I was living about 100 miles South of there. At our HS we had numerous trucks with rifles and guns in the racks next to the rear window. It wasn't uncommon for someone to be cleaning a rifle in the parking lot.
It was the deer hunters/private citizens that kept Whitman pinned down because the police did not have any weapons that could reach the Tower effectively (shotguns and pistols).

‘22! Good God, thats more than a third of the total number of people murdered with a gun every year in the UK in just this one incident’
Up to 32 now - make that half instead of a third. Let us hope it does not increase further.

Gosh with their strict gun control policies in the UK, you would think that they would have NO homicides by gun. Wouldn’t you?

When you take God out of the school system and teach these students that we evolved from animals (and there are no moral absolutes) - we shouldnt be surprised when they act like animals. I would be surprised if they didnt. J: So you're saying the churches and parents have pretty much turned over all moral teaching to the school systems? I guess that makes Christianity one of the lazier belief systems going.
Even more interesting is the idea that putting God back into the school system will prevent this sort of thing. Radical Islam puts God into not only the school system, but also the government, the police, and indeed every place they can find. Yet Radical Islam seems to produce an enormous number of nutbars willing to kill and be killed. Far more, in fact, than our decadent system seems to. What gives?

We currently have a decided shortage of information about what has happened but, we already have a dreaded excess of opinion about what will happen.
When something like this happens, speculation is sure to abound. Given that several high profile incidents like this over the past five years (LA Airport shooting, Virginia sniper, Utah mall, North Carolina SUVicide) have involved T.R.O.P. operatives, it's only natural that one would suspect their involvement.

OMG!!! Jack Thompson was on Fox News as a specialist and expert on school shootings....attorney....this isn’t the same Jack Thompson that JimRob had to ban and he threatened to sue all Freepers. This Jack Thompson is nuttier than a fruitcake.

My cousin is ok, just got an e-mail from him. Yes, this did indeed happen on his campus, but not in a nearby building. They had the faculty in lock-down for a while, but he’s at home with his family now.

Your level of discourse is impressive. *SIGH*
To: AxelPaulsenJr
Why does it have to be all or nothing... with all things conservative? Most other countries have a much lower homicide rate than the USA. That is just a fact. Why is that?
Just because Canada,UK,Australia, etc don’t have a murder rate equal to zero does not mean there are not lessons to be learned here. The USA is not even in the same ballpark when homicide rates are compared with other first world nations.

The quickest way to limit a “dreaded excess of opinion” is for officials to supply accurate information to the public.
They tend not to...and the result is speculation. That is healthy.
